There is a difference in designing
and painting of the designs among Greek and Roman that they use to depict to
the people differently. Across time we have always revered great thinkers who
revolutionized the world with their ability to think critically. When met with
the topic of critical thinking as whole there is no better person that comes to
mind other than Marcus Aurelius. Remembered as one of the greatest rulers of
the Roman empire, he is known for his outstanding leadership in battle and
beautiful writings into ancient Roman Stoic philosophy.
One of his most notable writings is
the “Meditations.” It is a book compiled of his journal writings that reflects
on his time as an emperor, as well as the many lessons he has learned
throughout his life that created the foundation of the man he was. You could
say that his writings were the commandments of man, in a sense, creating
principles to live by that slightly resembled what many major religions have
created. In order to create these types of guidelines you must first step back
from just experiencing life and take a moment to be more introspective and
think critically on your methods of operation (Trent, 2019).
How
did Greek and Roman architect/engineers apply their skills differently to the
structures
that
define their respective cultures (ex. The Parthenon vs. The Colosseum)
The Parthenon and the Colosseum
are two basics and identification of the Greek and Roman architects that
represents their identifications with their structure and designs. The
Parthenon design consists of square shaping’s along with pillars having well developed
systems. The temple that they build to worship have 19 inner pillars and 46
outer pillars named prethon which depicts their true culture and true power of
Athena along with Showing Greeks Goddess workings. The oval shaped temple was
very much fascinating towards their followers.
The
designs of Colosseum were made in terms of entertaining the public that was
made for the gladiators fight and that showed greatly in an organized way
having differences in different occasions in terms of entertaining the public
in Rome. The gladiator’s contents were organized to work on public sectors
making the things to be very much different views showing public spectacles,
sea battels, animal hunts and other Romans that attended the Colosseum to work
effectively and efficiently. The structure of the Colosseum is much complex
then Parthenon that makes the things be highly predictable and innovative to
supply sea battels (Proessay.com, 2012).
What do you think is their
most important contribution to modern society? Why did they
collapse and are we next?
As
an emperor, he had complete freedom of will to take advantage of the power that
lied within his hands. Like many of the emperors before him, he could have
easily lead the path of a gluttonous, power hungry ruler who cared about
nothing more than the wine that touched his lips. Instead, he took the route of
a man who was honorable and modest. He did not take advantages of his riches,
living a life of “soft” luxury. He not only thanked his mother for teaching him
to be religious and liberal, but he analyzed further into his own experience.
Imagine being in a place of such high nobility, where your wishes can be
fulfilled at any time, where money is but an object, and you have the ability
to roam freely as you please. One could easily get lost in the freedom, and
never think once to look over their own actions. This is what many of the Roman
rulers did, as it is said that there were only “Five Good Emperors,” with
Marcus Aurelius being one of them.
Are we modern day gladiators
or not? What drives us to enjoy the violence or not? Will we ever
progress from violence or are we hard-wired to "kill?"
In 1881 There has been set many of the scenes by depicting
about the modern football that is taking a larger are towards better
advancements. Later he
states that it is important that you keep your own list of these thank you
letters, saying that is important that we fall out of touch with ourselves,
that we must look to these people to remind us of what makes us great. That it
is important that we see the greatness in others in order for us to see what is
truly great about ourselves. And to begin this process, we have to think
critically on all of the conversations we had with the people we love. The
moments in which you admired someone you know for something they did. Thinking
about and analyzing these memories beyond nostalgia, but for application and
the process of building our own foundation. He looked beyond the happenings of
his everyday life, not taking in the fine luxuries of the emperor life with a breath
of satisfaction and self-concern (Heisel, 2015).
