In the world, the US has one of the safest
supplies of water. In the United States, it is EPA or Environmental Protection
Agency that regulates tap water.
Drinking water varies with places and it
depends on the condition of source water, and the treatment that water
receives. However, it should meet the regulations of EPA.
Even though the supplies of tap water in
the US are recognised to be one of the safest around the globe, it is possible
for water contamination to occur. There are different contamination sources
including:
·
Malfunctioning of wastewater
treatment systems.
·
Manufacturing processes.
·
Practices of local land use.
·
Naturally occurring minerals
and chemicals.
·
Sewage releases.
In addition to it, drinking water which is
not treated properly or which seems to travel through an inefficiently
maintained system of distribution might also become the cause of contamination.
The prevalence of some specific contaminants in water is capable of leading to
health problems including neurological disorders, reproductive issues, and
gastrointestinal illness. Immuno-compromised persons, the elderly, pregnant
women, young children, and infants might be susceptible to illness.

Testing: It is the EPA that sets regulations and
standards for the levels and standards of more than ninety contaminants in
drinking water including cryptosporidium, slamonella, and E.coli.
EPA:
The EPA or Environmental Protection Agency was

public environmental concerns that acquired significant momentum in the mid-20th
century. From the creation of EPA, it has had the objective of conserving and
protecting the natural environment, and improving the health of individuals by
researching the impacts of and imposing limitations on the utilisation of
pollutants. The use of pollutants and chemicals, distribution, processing, and
manufacturing are regulated by the EPA. It enforces its standards and findings
through sanctions, fines, and other procedures.
CDC:
CDC or Centres of Disease Control and Prevention is
accountable for the handling and management of spread of different infectious
diseases. In addition to it, it also offers assistance and consultation to
other international agencies and nations for assessing in the improvement of
their disease control and prevention, health promotion activities, and
environmental health.
