NHES
Standards: According to the information given on
the website of the Centers for Disease Control & Prevention (CDC), there
are eight basic standards, which are called national health education standards.
For the very first time, these standards were published in 1995, which
provide a comprehensive guideline for students, studying in all grades.
Following two standards have been chosen for this particular lesson plan:
Standard
1:
Students will comprehend concepts
related to health promotion and disease prevention to enhance health.
Standard
2: Students will
analyze the influence of family, peers, culture, media, technology, and other
factors on health behaviors (CDC.GOV, 2020)
Learning
Objectives: SMART objectives for this lesson plan:
Specific:
This lesson plan is being developed to help students in developing the
essence for basic national health education standards so that they can
understand these standards, and they can also apply the ideas in their real
lives
Measurable:
The learning progress of students in this regard will be measured by taking
certain tests, where they will be asked a few questions to share their
learning experience and feedback
Attainable:
This lesson plan is very much attainable, as it has taken standards given by the
CDC, which are based on a lot of research and planning.
Realistic:
The lesson plan has taken 2 standards at one point in time, to remain
realistic in its approach. It may be hard for students to cover all 8
standards, so that’s why only 2 standards are taken for this particular
lesson plan.
Time-Specific:
This lesson plan will be delivered in two classes. The first standard will be
discussed in the first class, and the second standard will be discussed in
the second class (Herridge, 2020)
Presentation
Objectives: The speaker will make sure that his/her
approach is based on two-way communication with the students to have an
interactive learning session. It will not be one-way traffic, where students
are not engaged in the process.
