In
the face of catastrophe, spiritual people look to God for relief from their
suffering. But how do atheists cope? If there is no grand cosmic plan to
explain tragedy or alleviate the tedium of daily responsibilities, why bother
to get up in the morning? In this program, biologist and atheist Richard
Dawkins explains how science can provide meaning in a universe devoid of God. A

Life. (47 minutes) A BBC Production. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CBgB7MbBogA
This unit covers some major religions
and this is a modern day philosopher who
is a renowned atheist--i.e. someone who
has no deity in their cosmological
world. What were your thoughts on
his ideas after this? Why do you think the
modern world has embraced more atheism
as of recent? Any other ideas this
video made you consider?
The video is about the reality of death
and various beliefs of modern philosophers. In this video, I learned that all
religions have some special believes about death. Christens and Muslims believe
in after-death life. While Hindu try to burn their dead bodies to release the
soul. However, all of these have belief in the death of the body but not the
death of souls.
The
modern world is embracing atheism because of changes in religious believes and
ideologies. When hope from a God does not fulfil then people become atheist.
They believe gods do not exist and human being has no life after death. From
this video, I learned that Atheist believe that death is an unchangeable
reality. Many people think that a person who lives a longer life belongs to the
family of long-life gene therefore they live a longer life.

Listen to this podcast and reflect on the
question posed about the podcast. Answer this question, If Jesus
never called himself God, how did he become one? What are your
thoughts here based on both your own convictions and things you may have
learned listening to this podcast?

According to the Podcast Jesus was
sent by God. Jesus never himself claimed as a God of mankind. In the religious
books of Christianity, Jesus was not declared as God but in the book of Gospel
of John. However, Jesus was given the title of God after the resurrection
event. Roman people were used to calling their emperor “god” therefore
following this belief Christian community of that time also started calling
Jesus as their god. Somehow, the followers of modalism also called him God.
In my views, there should be a
clear statement by Jesus to accept that he was a god. If Jesus did not call
himself god then why Christians need to accept it in this way. History and past
are different because we cannot provide evidence of everything happened in
past. The video raised questions about resurrection and God. Somehow, because
of the limitation of evidence we cannot have clear historical information about
Jesus and early believes of Christians.
