Nowadays, YouTube is considered as the
largest Internet video-sharing platform around the world. It is a useful tool
that is utilized in many categories such as social communication, business,
advertising, and as well as a learning resource for students and the general
public [1]. YouTube videos are in easy reach sources of educational content for
different reasons. First, a free web-based service that can be accessed by a
student on different academic levels. Second, all specific concepts taught in
schools or university can be found in the form of short useful contents video.
Third, YouTube videos can be easily searched and shared by students using the
provided links or the provided tools. Moreover, educators can review the videos
whenever they liked it or disliked it and comment for further improvement on
the videos related to a specific concept [2]. YouTube videos are accessed by
students from different academic levels for many different reasons, such as to
make up for missed classes, review for exams and tests improve learning, or to
learn how to solve specific problems. Educational videos on YouTube videos
encouraged students to look for similar videos and get used to considering
YouTube as an educational resource [2].
According to YouTube definition, “Edutainment is combining
education with entertainment: Often hosted by curiosity-seeking hosts or
subject matter experts, these videos provide memorable education on YouTube in
a creative way”[3]. Basically, the term edutainment is the act of learning through
several media such as TV programs, films, websites and video games [4]. YouTube
is considered an edutainment media if the content of video educates and
entertains users while watching the videos. There is no work done that can
assess Edutainment channels or shows how to classify if the YouTube channel can
be sorted as an Edutainment channel. The only found work is a list of the best
education channel for learning online, which were ranked based on the number of
subscribers. We took those channels and test them based on our protocols to
investigate if they can be an Edutainment’s channel or not, where the videos of
the channel must educate and entertains viewers by using creative presentation,
for example, using animations, drawing and not use any PowerPoint slides or
explaining by solving questions and can be accessed and understood by the
general public and not specific for a certain academic level or even for a certain
gender. The selected Edutainment’s videos are sorted by different topics, where
there is no information about what people like to learn on YouTube. In
particular, this paper discusses five research question on Edutainment’s
videos:

First question: Does the video topic affect
viewer behaviors and sentiments?

Second question: Does the on-line life of an
edutainment video affect viewer behaviors and sentiments?

Third
question: Does the talking rate of an edutainment video affect viewer behaviors
and sentiments?

Fourth question: Does the gender of the
presenter affect viewer behaviors and sentiments?
·
Fifth question: Does the native language of the
presenter affect viewer behaviors and sentiments?
Answering these research questions would be beneficial both for an
informed search for the matter of the topic of the edutainment videos affects
viewer behaviors and sentiments. As well as for YouTube and YouTube channels
owners to know the factors that affect viewer behaviors and sentiments toward
videos.
