Reflections Essay on Akan shit

Communication is one effective way to deliver the message, now coming towards the way of communication it varies from person to person along with the area to area as well. There are two different ways through which message is being transferred which are commonly used. Verbal communication and the non-verbal communication. Verbal communication is the one through which language is being used to transfer the message or communicate while non-verbal communication is the other kind in which language is not being used but different body gestures and body language is being used. There are different kind of the videos and reports in which one can also easily tell that what kind of the language has been used or how things have been done or being communicated as well. (Miller, 2005)

Here two things are about to be discussed, one is the article that is by the name of Akan shit and the other one is the YouTube video that is from the name of Girls Don’t Poop – Poopourri.com. In both these kinds, different language has been discussed or it can also be said that different kind of the communication methods has been discussed here. Now main purpose is to discuss about the language that has been used in both of them and how briefly things have been discussed. Moving further, let’s talk about them one by one.

There is an article that is by the name of Akan shit, in this article there have been discussed number of different methods to get rid of the dirt in Ghana. This is the article that has been written in one nice and sophisticated way. This is the kind of topic which obviously seems to be disgusting and ridiculous as different kind of the fecal discharge methods have been discussed in detail in different age groups. Main thing which I want to mention here is that I didn’t find this article disgusting while reading, it is one large article with lots of information but the language that has been used in this article is very decent and nothing seems to be embarrassing or ridiculous at all. Above this, the writer made sure that he used the kind of communication or language just to make sure people get enough of the information so that they don’t get bored and apart from this they also get to know about the different techniques through which they can get rid of the dirt easily. So I am really satisfied by the language that has been used in this article and it is one straight and nice article which is full of information and there is nothing wrong at all to give it a reading once without thinking about it that it may be disgusting or ridiculous. Language is very decent and there is nothing bad in this article. (Van der Geest, 1998)

Moving further to the next link of YouTube that has been given that is by the name of Girls Don’t Poop – Poopourri.com. In this link there is a video that is also related to the poop or feces. This video is for almost 2-3 mins and there is a girl that has been shown sitting on the commode and I believe this is not the right way to make a video. Language that is being used in the video is very much opposite to the article and this is kind of a funny video but it is not. The language and wording that has been used in the video by girl is not appropriate at all and there should be some other way to make out this video. Actually this video is about the spray that can be used to make sure there don’t remain any smell after pooping out. I want to notify one sentence here that didn’t know make any sense in the video and it shouldn’t be used at all. That sentence is “Use spray and save relationships” well this sentence doesn’t make any sense here and it shouldn’t be used. This is just an example here, many other sentences and words have been used in this video which shouldn’t be used or be the part of video. So I didn’t like the idea behind the video and above all the language that has been used in this video. There can be different other ways and the language could be used in a much better way to give a message to the audience rather than using the language that has been used already. So this is something that needs to be considered out carefully and properly. Video is something that is being seen by everyone, men women of different age groups so making women part of this kind of videos is not considered good at all. Even the language and the dialogues that are being used in the video should not be made like these.  (Bordreuil, 2006)

Language matters a lot as it can give a positive or negative effect on the readers or the listeners. So this is very important or essential to use out the words that don’t make anyone feel disgusting but the language should be considerate and decent so that people can get as much knowledge as the maker or writer wants to convey. This is one important thing, so two different articles on the same topic and two different kind of the languages that has been discussed. I enjoyed reading the article rather than watching the video, in fact the video was short induration and it took long time duration to read out the article but because of the language that has been used, I enjoyed reading the article. Reading is always considered to be one of the difficult thing for me but because of the information that I got while reading the article didn’t let me get bored for a second or I didn’t even lose my interest. At first I thought video would give me much information but after comparing both, article is the good one.
