The purpose of this essay is to draw the
comparison among ThoughtCo, Archaeology News Network, Çatalhöyük Research
Project, and Science Daily to review the reliability as well as credibility of
these websites. For this comparison, the
websites will be evaluated on the basis of their Accuracy, Objective, Purpose, and Coverage. The essay will also try to find
similarities between these websites with regards to their articles and content.
There are 4 total websites; ThoughtCo, Archaeology News Network, Catalhoyuk.Com
and Science Daily. And there will be description
of each site.
The first website to be reviewed is
ThoughtCo, so articles of this website
will be reviewed that help in solving the puzzles of history. This website is beneficial for the Archaeologist as mostly
articles are related to ancient cultures. The other site is Archaeology News Network and, in this website, mostly the articles
are related to the biology like Archaeology, Anthropology, Paleontology,
Evolution, Astronomy and Natural Heritage. The next site is the Catalhoyuk
Research Project, and most of the articles on this website are related to time
and space. Also, the latest information is available in its articles. The last site to be reviewed is Science Daily, and this
website comes with latest research news regarding health, technology, environment,
society as well as quirky
Reliability
and Credibility of the Websites
First of all, we talk about the ThoughtCo website,
which is helpful in solving the puzzles of history. From this website, we take the article Cahokia (USA)-in
the American Bottom Massive Mississippian center. The author of this article is
K.Kris Hirst, and this is updated on July 4, 2017. K. Kris Hirst is an
archaeologist with thirty years of experience in the field, (Hirst, 2017).
The website of Science Daily is about the latest research on new technology, environment as well as
society. From one of its article, we take
the piece about illuminating women’s role
in the creation of medieval manuscripts. This article is published on January 9, 2019 and the author of this article is not mentioned, but still the website is good
enough to be considered a reliable one (ScienceDaily, 2019)
The other website to be reviewed and
compared is Catalhoyuk, and most of its articles are related to time and space.
The author of one of the articles is Dominik Lukas. This is also an authentic website with authentic information. The specific content we took from this
website to review is the video named “Priority Units 32144 & 32145”. The
reporter of this video news is Ian Hodder and
the date of this video published on the website is 27th June, 2017 (Hodder, 2017). Last but not the
least is the website of Archaeology News Network. We find the old culture articles in this website like
anthropology, paleontology, natural heritage, linguistics as well as evolution.
The one article taken from this website is titled as “Algeria’s Ancient pyramid tombs still Shrouded in Mystery.” This article wass published on January 14th,
2019. The author of this article is Amal Belalloufi, and the paper content is
good with reliable history information (Belalloufi, 2019)
Conclusion
on Review of 4 Websites and their
Articles
It can be concluded
from the above discussion that one website may look better than the other due
to various elements like its reliability, authenticity, style, information etc.
These attributes are important to determine after review that which one is on
top as compared to the others. According to my point of view after reviewing
and comparing these 4 websites, the most authentic place is ThoughtCo. It comes with detailed information about the
author, the publication date etc. And most importantly, the content of the
articles is very significant for the research studies as it is authentic and
written in simple language for everyone to understand.
It is also concluded that second best
website is Catalhoyuk Research Project. The reason is same as the above, but
there is one more distinction of this website that most data is available in the form of videos, which attracts the interest of users. But fact of the matter
is that it is difficult to listen all
videos and extract data from these videos; that’s why it has been ranked second
in this list. The number three is given to Archaeology News Network and last ranking
number is given to Science daily. These two websites are also good enough to be
viewed as authentic and reliable, but they need to improve more so that they
can be on top of the list.
