Introduction of Ooredoo IS Analysis

Ooredoo is a global organization specializing in telecommunication and it has headquarters in Qatar. The organization offers content, wireline, wireless, and mobile services with a market share in international and domestic telecommunication markets, residential markets, and corporations. It provides services in different nations and is recognized as one of the largest telecommunication organizations in the world. There are some specific departments and sectors on which the organization depends the most. Some of the most important areas include the department of finance, department of human resource, department of R&D, department of IT, and department of customer relations. Ooredoo is constantly joined with these departments and information is shared at a rapid rate through different hardware components and software applications. There is a fundamental component that all of these departments utilize and that is the WLAN server. For each and every department, the main server is the same but they have different sub-modems and networks which ensure that connection is disrupted between them and the main server (Ooredoo, 2019).

The department of IT is responsible for managing the prime database which contains facts and figures about different events on a weekly, monthly, and annual basis. Only this department has its access and no other sector is allowed to utilize it. The department of finance has some specific applications which help them in analyzing the figures. And the most important one of these is Microsoft Excel which is utilized almost on a daily basis. The department of human resource plays a key role in ensuring that the organization is maintaining its performance by checking on employees. Skype is an application that the HR department uses to keep an eye on employees working in different departments. The HR manager has the capability of contacting anyone besides the CEO without any notice for performance concerns. The main service that the R&D department has is the Internet because most of their work is concerned with research. This department is also allowed to survey different markets and use wireless service to convey the details about their researches. The last department of customer relations is obliged to record all the new developments with consumers on a record tracking program. It is important to note here that all of these departments have accessibility to Gmail, wireline communication, wireless communication, and paperwork.

Network Devices of Ooredoo IS Analysis

Following are the network devices which are being utilized in the organization for communication and being interlinked with each other:

Personal Computers and Laptops of Ooredoo IS Analysis

The most basic network device is obviously computer systems which are provided to employees on the basis of their work. But the majority of workers have computers which they use to perform their work. Now, employees have the capability of choosing between a standard computer system and their own laptop. It is up to the workers to decide whether they are more comfortable working on an adjusted system or a movable system. Computers play a fundamental role in ensuring that workers are connected to the main server and they are sharing their details with the task manager. All the computers have the accessibility to Gmail which is a platform that allows employees to share details about their work and their service status with the manager. This method is preferred more than an open connection like wireline because there is a potential threat of someone unauthorized eavesdropping on the important conversation (Ayman Radwan, 2014).

In order to enhance the WLAN connection, various security layers are applied along with an antivirus application that makes sure there is no potential threat to the organizational functions. Being a telecommunication organization, most of the work relies on the internet and with this digitalization, the risk of hacking also increases. Hence, network security is enhanced and checked every now and then for keeping confidentiality in check.

WLAN Server and Sub-Servers of Ooredoo

Ooredoo is a telecommunication organization which relies more on facts and digits than on numbers. The organization has to constantly deal with a large amount of data because it has millions of users worldwide which are utilizing its services. Observing and analyzing how customers are using its service is critical for it and that is the reason why it ought to have a connection with the web. Moreover, with immense digitalization, organizations feel the need to make sure that each and every part of it is connected with each other so that information can be shared with efficiency and time-effectiveness (Mohanan, 2017).

Internet is the only cheap and reliable source that enables firms to abridge distances and cut the cost of time down for enhancing productivity. And for an international firm like Ooredoo, it becomes a serious concern to main a consistent connection with the Internet. For maintaining this connection, there is the main server of WLAN that offers accessibility to the web to all departments and employees. It has a different chamber where only technicians are allowed to visit and only when there are some technical issues. Otherwise, it is maintained from the outside through different monitoring devices. A main server of WLAN is utilized in the firm because the consumption of internet is very large and it cannot be handled with just a few connections. If there are only some specific connections then they will be unable to manage the consumption of data because every employee has to be connected to the internet. Relying on different connections instead of the main server would not only increase cost but it would also increase complexity.

However, only a main server cannot provide the facility of the internet to all workers and departments. Thus, sub-components like modems are deployed within all departments so that connections can be made easily. Now, to ensure that there is a strong connection with the web, both wired internet and wireless internet is available through these modems. The internet allows computers to utilize both Skype and Gmail as they enable workers to keep in contact with other workers and the task manager. Hence, it can be said that both of these applications are powered by the internet.

Communication between Clients and Department of Customer Relations of Ooredoo

Following are the components which enable communication between employees and customers:

Gmail of Ooredoo

In order to provide a platform beside the official website to clients, Gmail is a free platform that anyone can utilize for both sending messages and other kinds of media and files. Being an online platform, it requires a connection with the internet. Otherwise, a person is not capable of using it and what makes this platform so preferable is that there are boundaries to this platform. The department of customer relations can communicate through this platform with customers spread throughout the world. Generally, clients use this platform to just send a message to the administrator of the department about the service or just experience.

There are many other features to this platform as well and one of the most convenient ones is that it has a built-in chatting feature which allows users to just converse with the administrator without much consumption of time (Jones & Bartlett Publishers, 2010).

Website of Ooredoo

Ooredoo has an official website through which it conveys its vision and mission along with the necessary information that customers must know. This online platform has been developed to ensure that the firm has a presence on the internet and customers can easily find and know about it. This website is directly operated by both Customer Relations and IT department. On the website, consumers can know about the services which are being provided by the organization and it also tells them how they can contact the administrative panel.

Landline of Ooredoo

Other than Gmail and website, Ooredoo allows its customer department to keep in touch with all of its clients through landline as some clients find it more convenient to contact them through landline instead of Gmail. This is a convenient method and there is a sub-sector in the department which handles all landline operations.

 OSI Model of Ooredoo

The OSI or Open Systems Interconnection model utilizes layers for giving a visual explanation of what is being carried out in a specific networking system and website of Ooredoo in this case.

Physical Layer of Ooredoo

The physical layer seems to represent the physical and electrical representation of the website. For this layer of the website, the only components included are computer systems and networking wires. The computers are connected to the internet through either wires or WLAN. With the accessibility of the internet, a team of IT and a team of customer relations operate the website. If there is any issue in this layer then technicians or hardware specialists are called for either repairing the computers or finding the issue. For instance, this issue in this can be that power plug has been pulled out of the switch which has disrupted the connection.

Data Link Layer of Ooredoo

Node-to-node transfer of data is provided by the layer of the data link between two nodes which are connected with each other. This layer is also responsible for handling error connections from the first layer. In this layer, there are two sub-layers which include the LLC or Logical Link Control and MAC or Media Access Control layer. In Ooredoo, most of the switches are operating in the second layer.

Network Layer of Ooredoo

It is the network layer in which most of the part of router functionality exists and it is considered very important by networking professionals. Basically, it can be said that this layer is accountable for forwarding of the packet including routing through the medium of different routers. There are different paths that can be taken to connect to a server available in a different nation and choosing the best path is facilitated by these layers. In this process, routers are playing an important role in helping Ooredoo in selecting the most suitable path.

Transport Layer of Ooredoo

This layer is actually dealing with the coordination of transfer of data between hosts and end systems. It helps in answering questions like how much data should be sent, where to send it, and at what rate. And the best example is the TCP or transmission control protocol developed over IP or Internet Protocol (Li, et al., 2011).

Session Layer of Ooredoo

In Ooredoo, when two servers, computers, or devices must speak with one another, the need for a session emerges and this is carried out at the Session layer. At this layer, some functions include coordination regarding how long a system should be waiting for a response, setup, and termination between different applications at the end of a specific session.

Presentation Layer of Ooredoo

The layer of presentation is representing the area which is not dependent on the representation of data at the layer of an application. Generally, it seems to represent the interpretation or preparation of application format to a format of the network, or from formatting of the network to an application format. It can be said that the layer is presenting data for the network or the application. An example of this process would by decryption or encryption of data for safe transmission.

Application Layer of Ooredoo

For furthering the analogy of bean dip, the layer of the application appears on the top and it is the interface that most of the users are seeing when they are opening the site. In the model of OSI, this layer is actually the closers to various end-users. And applications which are working at this layer are the ones with which users are directly interacting. Any web browser is a good application of this layer and the website appearance is another example. At these layers, end-users send messages and queries which are received by hosts (Bora, et al., 2014).

Conclusion on Ooredoo

Overall, it can be said that Ooredoo is a complex organization with effective IS systems spread throughout the organizations. All of its branches have a similar structure as the headquarters operating in Doha. The organization makes the use of the internet the most as a bridge between computer systems and different online platforms like Gmail and Skype. Both of these applications are utilized within the firm to communicate with each other in such a way that not even a minor detail is missed. Meanwhile, the OSI model explains how Ooredoo is operating its website.
