Purpose of Assignment
This assignment helps students learn to find, read, and understand the four primary financial statements that companies must prepare both for public and internal purposes. Students do this in a real-world context by using the Internet to locate financial statements for an actual American corporation. Students then review those financial statements from the standpoint of different potential users—investors, creditors, employees, and so forth.
Resources Required
Students must access the website for an American corporation that they select. The website should provide the company’s annual report that contains the four financial statements.

Students must have selected an American corporation and visited its corporate website to download the Income Statement, Statement of Stockholders Equity, Balance Sheet, and Statement of Cash Flows.
Determines the amount of net income for the current fiscal year and how it changed from the prior year, and then answers the question, “why is this information important to investors?”
Determines the ending balance in stockholders equity for the current fiscal year and shares why this information may be important to a labor union representing company employees
Determines the total amount of assets for the company and shares why this information may be important to potential creditors
Determines the total cash flows from operations and shares which type of financial statement user may be most interested in that information
The paper is no more than 1,000 words in length.
