Since risk cannot be reduced to zero, the ALARP concept is often applied. What might be some pitfalls to applying this concept?

Review the summary of the ANSI/AIHA Z10 sections in Chapter 1 of the course textbook. From these descriptions, discuss what you think might be roadblocks to implementing the standard in a typical manufacturing organization. Which sections might prove to be the most challenging?

The course textbook states that �Management Leadership and Employee Participation� is the most important section of ANSI/AIHA Z10. The stated primary purpose of Z10 is to reduce the risk of occupational injuries, illnesses, and fatalities. As noted in the course text, zero risk is not likely to be achievable, so acceptable risk levels must be defined. What about a goal of zero injuries? Is that achievable? How does �acceptable� risk affect injury reduction goals? Support your discussion with at least two references.
