Persuasive Speech Outline
Attention Getter- How many of you are wearing converse shoes right now? Did you know that in 1917 the Converse all star shoe was originally marketed as a very popular basketball shoe. Well, the timeless shoe still has the same look and people like James Dean, Kurt Cobain, The Ramones, David Bowie and many more have worn the iconic shoe, giving it the style that is shared by people across the world.
Thesis Statement: Those of you that aren't wearing converse right now, it's okay because I will show you how popular, reasonably priced, and comfortable these shoes are.
Preview of main points- I will discuss why you as a consumer, need these shoes. Also, I will prove your satisfaction and benefits after wearing converse.
Transition- First, I will explain why converse has become the popular shoe that it is today.
Main point 1- Need
- There is no other shoe like it. Converse came before Nike, Adidas, and Reebok. They were founded in 1908 as a rubber shoe company and evolved from a basketball shoe into the sneakers that are worn for daily use.
-According to an article by Jarrell R. Hawkins published in February 8, 2011 called, "A History of Celebrities Wearing the Converse Chuck Taylor All-Star" said that, celebrities like LeBron James, Kristen Stewart, Daniel Radcliffe, Will Smith and many more like to wear the famous shoe.
- An another article published in April 4th, 2014 called, "How Did Converse Become Popular," by Tyler Atwood said that, in September 2013, Bloomberg Businessweek reported that “sales of the vintage Converse brand increased 16 percent, to $494 million, in the recent quarter, while earnings before interest and taxes jumped 36 percent.”
Transition- Not only are converse popular for their celebrity endorsement, but they are also popular for their prices and availability.
Main Point 2- Satisfaction
- If you are looking to buy converse, you don't have to look far. You can buy these shoes on the Converse website where there is a wide selection of different styles. Or, you can also buy them at any Converse retail store located in most shopping areas.
- There are many different materials that Converse comes in including canvas, leather, and suede.
- There is a wide range of Converse shoes priced between $45 to $130. However, you can buy them even cheaper if you go to the outlet malls where promotions will bring down the price to as cheap as $25.
Transition- The reason Converse has become so big is for their marketing and for recently having sold their company to Nike.
Main Point 3- Visulization
- After Nike bought Converse for $305 million, Nike has made some major improvements to the shoe and have teamed up with other companies to give limited collaborations.
- Wearing these shoes, you will feel the plush insoles giving you comfort throughout the day. You will also feel the breathability from the eyelets that will keep your feet cool.
-In many of Converse's new shoes they use an insole called the Lunarlon that Nike uses in many of their shoes.
-Many skateboarders today have switched to converse shoes for their durability and comfort. In the skateboarding market, Converse have become one of the highest sellers.
Conclusion-
Review the main points- As you can see through this presentation people want converse, not only for their popularity, but also for their comfort and for being able to withstand different types of activities.
Call to Action- Every type of person has worn Converse and anyone can look good in them.
Summary- If you are looking for a shoe at a reasonable price, that can last, and has the comfort to get you through the day, Converse is the shoe for you.
