Advertisement is a simple method which is used by different companies to attract people. Advertisements can be found in multiple forms of media ranging from televisions, newspapers, magazines, internet, radio, billboard, flyers, posters and so on. One of the ads come from the company Aveeno. Aveeno is a legendary brand of skin and hair product which was founded in 1945. Jennifer Aniston, 44 years old actress is in the Aveeno absolutely ageless ad.
The first thing that all the customers would notice in this ad is obviously Jennifer Aniston as she is a renowned actress with fabulous body and flawless skin. In the image, Jennifer is laying back on a white framed bed with a big smile and clear skin. She is wearing a white top which matches the color of the bed frame she is laying on. The black bold typed ‘Aveeno ACTIVE NATURALS’ is at the top right corner of the image, just above three different creams of Aveeno. One of the restorative night cream is opened, and there is small black berry on the left side of the opened cream with the blue lid cover. Also, there are two others Aveeno creams; one is intensive renewal serum, and another is eye cream. Beside it to the left side, ‘Want to look younger, longer? Take the right steps now.’’ is written in black bolded letters. Underneath this in smaller print are the words, ‘Introducing the AVEENO ABSOLUTELY AGELESS collection Powered by our exclusive ACTIVE NATURALS Blackberry Complex, it’s a complete line of nourishing skin care that delivers improved elasticity and healthier, younger looking skin in just one week. And that’s a step in the right direction’ which are written in black also. This is stating that Aveeno helps consumers fantasize about having skin like Jennifer Aniston in this picture or this product is better than other skin care products as the product is using natural blackberry which reduces the pigmentation issues and aging wrinkles. Some other things that consumer would probably notice is her ocean blue eyes, her white tooth, her blue nail color polish which is like the cover/lid of the cream. And, she has put on a ring on both of her ring fingers.
This ad is telling the audience that Aveeno is better for removing and masking wrinkles as it is absolutely ageless cream. The hidden message would be to make women think that they will have same skin texture as Jennifer Aniston in the image. Jennifer Aniston was used for the face of Aveeno because being 44 years she has a very beautiful skin and great body and she is a renowned personality.
This ad would probably be found in magazines such as Vogue, Elle, Redbook, Femina, Her World, Destiny and many more because the dominant demographic is women who read these magazines. The ad is addressing women in every aspect because the fact that women are more concerned about the face, their marks, ages and wrinkles. Advertisement go all different direction when it comes to audience, for this advertisement, women from 30 yrs. age and above are targeted because most of the women start having wrinkles appears at early 30 and starts to look for aging creams and if 40yrs old Jennifer Aniston got flawless skin consumer would consumers would not want to have same results.
If the ad is trying to reach all the women, it would need to change. Rather than having only absolutely ageless cream, it would be lotion, regular cream and hair products in this way it would cover everything of Aveeno product line. Also, the message would be longer as it is covering all the products at once. As the age group is not mentioned in any of the products, including that will help a lot. And Jennifer on the first hand will cover everything of Aveeno as she has flawless skin, perfect body and smooth and silky hair.
