Assignment Instructions:
Simulation
BizCafe is an online coffee shop management simulation in which students will participate in teams.
Emails with information will be sent to student emails, by which they may sign up for the simulation.
Pre-formed teams will be announced in Week 1. Teams will meet at least once per week, outside of
class to discuss their coffee shop management decisions. Thursday night each week, decisions must
be submitted online, and teams prepared to discuss activities in informal class dialogue. Areas of
discussion will include marketing, financial, operations and human resource management. The
purpose of this exercise is to encourage active, participatory teamwork, as this is required in the
workplace. Completion of the simulation for all twelve (12) weeks will be worth 25 points.
Peer Review You will complete a peer review in class (form provided by the professor) for each member of your BizCafe team during Week 14. You will be asked to evaluate your team members on a scale from 1-5 on whether or not they contributed significantly and consistently to the team project, were on-time to team meetings, communicated regularly with the team, actively listened to and respected opinions of other team members. Your peer review will be worth 25 points and will be included in the rubric for your summary report. Summary Report Finally, you will write a 2-page, APA formatted summary report, detailing what you learned through the BizCafe simulation. Title page, abstract and reference page not needed. Your report will be due at the beginning of class, Week 15 (April 22). The report will be worth 50 points. Combined, completion of the simulation, your summary report, and peer review will be worth 100 points.
