PART 2
DESCRIPTIVE MEMOIR ESSAY- DRAFT
The year 2019 summer was not like any other. I went to Dubai for a week-long holiday. The day we visited the Khalifa tower skyscraper remains very vivid in my mind. As I sat in the car impatiently waiting to reach my destination, I was thinking about my all dream coming true- a visit to the modern world wonder. Burj Al Khalifa is the tallest construction build in the world at an altitude of 828 meters. This means that the building is twice taller than New York’s City Empire State Building.
Burj Al Khalifa has achieved the world record for being the tallest building globally and the skyscraper has also achieved other world records such as beating the record being the highest occupied, having many stories, having an elevator with the longest travel distance among many others (Ghorbanzadeh, 2017). When we reached the building, we realized that almost everything here was made based on the highest technology. All the entrances had automatic sliding doors that created an inviting and very easily accessible entrance.
Inside the building, the skyscraper has 58 well-designed elevators that are functional and also has the longest single running elevator which connects 140 floors. The elevator broke the world record as being the fastest elevator running at a speed of 10mts per second. In approximately one minute, we had arrived at the observation deck that is located on the 124t floor. I was only left wondering what had happened before the elevator door opened. The walk leading to the Burj Khalifa is a very amazing experience. There is a very dark hallway that has moving images depicting Dubai’s transformation from the past to the present.
There are two observation decks. The first observation deck is located on the 124th floor while the other one is located on the 148th floor. On this observation deck, it was very easier for us to view the surrounding landscape through the use of an electronic telescope.
Looking through the telescope, I was amazed by the beauty surrounding the tower. This is especially looking at the various saved images that had been taken at different time’s o the day and those capturing different weather conditions. The atmosphere here at the top was very refreshing. It was very wonderful watching the city below us from the top. Just below the tall building, the famous Address hotel stands. From the top, long vehicles seemed like very little toys.
From the Burj Al Khalifa observation deck, we moved to the Dubai fountain located in downtown Dubai. This is the world’s biggest performing fountain. It has over 900 feet long (Haneef, Ansari, & Bhavani, 2019). This is equal to more than two football pitches. It is located on the 30 acres of Burj Lake.
The spring has a very exceptional design that comprises five varying sizes circles as well as two arcs and it also has very strong water nozzles that normally shoot water up to exciting heights. There is over 6,000 WET super light as well as 25 color projectors creating a visual spectrum. On the other hand, more than 50 color projectors are providing a complete range of color with an output lumen of 1.5 million. The Dubai Fountain Lake Ride was very overwhelming.
The next place we visited was Burj Khalifa Park. This park is 27 acres in size. It consists, of six big water features palm line walkways, flowering trees, and gardens (Bowman, 2016). As we strolled on the garden barefoot on the green beautiful grass, it felt awesome. As a person enters, entry roads are leading through the park-like landscape separating hotels and housing arrival courts.
This was a very incredible desert safari. We enjoyed the rich and traditional Arabic Food. The food was mouth-watering when I enjoyed one of the best cuisines I have ever eaten. It was a very enjoyable, adventurous, and marvelous place to visit. The place we visited provided photo opportunities. The memories were unforgettable. This a very enjoyable place that everyone else would love to tour. I would like any of, my friends, to visit this most beautiful place, especially to witness the most beautiful tower and the tallest skyscraper in the world.
