Project Description
Selecting a Computing Cloud for Don and Associates
Statement of Need
Don and Associates Company, which deals with financial computing, is struggling with a solution that will help it to expand its operations at an effective cost. The company aims at migrating to cloud computing by choosing the most effective cloud computing type.
1. Cloud Service Providers
The first cloud service provider is Amazon Web Services, which was a firm launched in 2002, and it is the leading provider of cloud services in the world. AWS is a cloud platform that is broadly adopted in the world, providing over 165 services that are fully featured, and the service is used by millions of individuals. Some advantages of Amazon Web Services include improved site performance, which ensures that loading happens in a speedy manner (Wittig, Wittig & Whaley, 2016). The other advantage of outstanding technical support, which helps in delivering products to customers in a timely manner through the website. The other advantage it has improved website security. However, there are disadvantages which include technology limitations, AWS service limitations, which are set by the platform, and the other disadvantage is that it requires employees to be equipped with relevant knowledge, which is expensive.
2. Microsoft Azure
Microsoft Azure is another Cloud service provider that was created by Microsoft for managing, deploying, testing, and building services and applications using data centers that are managed by Microsoft (Parui & Sanil, 2016). Some advantages of Microsoft Azure includes the ability to scale on demand by helping to predict the future trends of the business. The advantage is that it is flexible as it helps in customizing the clouds as one would need. Also, Microsoft Azure has the advantage of being cost-effective. However, Microsoft Azure has some disadvantages, which include the unavailability of Hyper-V snapshot Support, lack of ability to upload custom images, and lack of integral backup.
3. Google Platform
This is a cloud service provider that lets one scale, deploy, and create services, websites, and applications on one infrastructure as Google. There are some advantages of Google Platform, like increased productivity due to faster access to innovation, supporting employees to operate from any location, allowing faster collaboration, and supporting flexibility (Landoni et al., 2019). However, the Google platform has some disadvantages like slow innovation so as to stay top of other providers, and also it does not offer an explanation.
Recommended Plan
I recommend Microsoft Azure due to the cost advantages associated with it. It allows one to automate tasks, and this will ensure that services are delivered efficiently. It will enable the company to eliminate the resources that are used for monitoring the services as well as reduce the time spend in these activities. Reducing some activities due to automation will result in cost-effectiveness as it will help in lowering costs. It also provides discounts to customers; hence acquiring it will be cheap compared to other providers.
Impact of Recommended Plan
The recommended plan will address the issue of the company by ensuring that the computing cloud is acquired through a cost-effective way due to the discounts associated with this type of cloud (Singh & Sidhu, 2017). Also, it will address the issues at Don & Associates Company by reducing operational costs that are associated with physical, technological services due to its ability to make services automatic. However, there are some risks associated with a migration like the risk of planning difficulties, which may lead to increased costs or failure and the risk of adjusting employees to the new strategy, which may take a long time.
