Cultural identity implication for K-12 public Education
Since is the beginning of time there has been the issue of cultural identity in which have to be controversial topics in every aspect of the educational system. Such topic like age, Gender, race, religion, and belief etc., are what brings about the major topic in education setting within the society. According to the online articles or publication “rethinking schools” give a topic “Rethinking Our Classrooms, Volume I” introduces the creation of equity and social Justices. This is a situation of that is confront too many schools fails confronts racial, class, and gender inequities weaved into our social our social lives. It has also emerged on our K-12 education sectors whereby there is a separation between white schools and black schools. All the material needed for the success of their educational achievement is always much better in so call white school while the black school lacks some of this necessities. But the articles also addresses that the classroom in this case for the K-12 education should portrait. The teachers should be instilled in our children the ability show respects to one another, initiate curiosity, and also most importantly curiosity to learn. They should also show the high level in embracing multicultural, anti-racial attitude coupled with justice. The most important of all is getting them involve with one another, in other to support and be a real true teller and change maker with a good imitative ideas that bring hope, joy, and visionaries.
The second articles “Identity, Teaching, and Learning” by Corwin touches the issue of privileges due to the environment and background difference due to race, class in the society in which reflected idea about good or bad in which influence the school system in our community. The rate at which prejudice and institutional racism are the major issues affecting identity development in which is historically underserved in the United States. Since the achievements of the student are always inextricably intertwined. This will depend on the societal status will help the students to negotiates, culture, and social surroundings when developing their identities. The race and identity reflect their attitudes, behaviors, and comfort with both self and other racial group in our k-12 educational system. This also addresses the characteristics of white dominance as an injustice but also touches on the victim’s problems, in which brings us to the level of accessing the son of African and the Latinos decent treatment not only in K-12 educational Setting, and also society at large. Some real live situation example where given in this articles that show and support the articles.
The article “Cultural Identity and Teaching” by Kim Kennedy White expatriates major focus on teacher identity on how to think about educational setting and scenarios from the point of view through the preplanned curriculum that brings teaching as a form orderly pattern and script that conveyance of information, teaching as clerking, is simply a myth. The fact that Teachers bring the wide range of experience, histories and different cultural orientation is a matter a lot. The variation in cultural identity does recognize that there should be a unique tradition, values, and their belief that is very fundamental to them of which are ethnic identity, language, religion, coupled with both formal/ informal environment such as neighborhoods and differences core family values. The most effective way in which teachers can build awareness for themselves is to first understand their own cultural background and the background of this student by which the can build the bridges in other to generates a more effective learning environment in the classroom among K-12 student. This active may relates to the , getting friends and family involvement, reflect on significant values of individuals student and teacher this show sense of belonging in the classroom, always creates a lesson place that brings cultural perspectives and identity.
The society that we are today, claimed that there is no element of racism, that all man are equal. As the old saying in Animal farm says “All animal are equal but some are more equal than others” The less privileged community K-12 school are really lacking materials and quality of education due to the facts that, they are from the lower class of social economical background. And the need for us to eradicates this completely. Although effort and progress have been made over the years but we can just stop to fold our arm we still need to do more work. I bill that all our k-12 deserved the best qualities across the nations without segregation due to race, culture, or lower working class in our environment.
