The Iceman Murder Mystery
The documentary collection "Iceman Murder Mystery" is a narration movie by PBS Nova. It talks about scientists trying to figure out about the mummified corpse pulled from the glacier in the Alps 20 years ago to try and find out the many secrets it might hold (PBS Nova Documentary, 2017). The autopsy is none like the other, and scientists are attempting to unravel more mysteries from the mammy to find out more details on the mummies death and his entire life. The video attempts to answer several questions about the people who lived during their periods, age, what they eat, and the disease they coped with.
The iceman murder d narrator explains that the mummy has been frozen for other 5000 years on the remote mountain pass and is currently preserved for around 20 years in a
refrigerated tomb (PBS Nova Documentary, 2017). The Iceman, also known as Otzi, is a frozen relic from the stone age. He is a prehistoric man found in the mountain range of the Austrian and Italian border. His age was around 40 years when he was alive and was discovered in 1991 by hikers. From the evidence, the Iceman was probably a shepherd. What might have killed the man has remained a mystery over the years, but the autopsy helps yield new clues to his way of life and the weird situations that might have led to his death. The Iceman has lived between 3400 and 3100 bc and is believed to have been murdered (PBS Nova Documentary, 2017). An arrow was discovered on his left shoulder and might have caused a fatal wound. People found several materials around the mummy that showed he was not a modern man. The Iceman did not have his hair, toenails, and fingers, nails, and his skin's outer layer. Aside from this, he was perfectly preserved. During his recovery, there was only one surviving fingernail. The narrator explains that the fingernail from his remains suggested that he might have suffered three episodes of serious disease during the last six months of his life (PBS Nova Documentary, 2017). His last meal may have also included bread and venison.
The narrator explains that there is no other corpse that has gone through such a thorough examination. The bodies had his skin intact covered over 50 tattoos, which made it unique and highly prized archaeological discoveries. The autopsy shows that the arrow that entered his left shoulder caused him to fall and hit his head on a stone from where he might have bled to death (PBS Nova Documentary, 2017). One of the scientists also explains that they have to be very thorough to ensure that the Iceman does not have any damage during the investigations. The narrator also explains that the arrow would help the doctors determine whether the Iceman killed in a skirmish with other settlements or hunters. He had a very advanced ax that shows he had a great significance in society. Finding the arrowhead created a dilemma of whether to cut or not cut it. However, his body was too protected since it was the landscape for archeological purposes since it is a cultural treasure. The narrator further explains that the Iceman was found 100 yards from the Italy and Austria border over 500 years ago, where he was killed (PBS Nova Documentary, 2017). The person who might have killed the Iceman left the ax and took the arrow to ensure that he did get identified.
From his brain, he had some black spot that might have been seen blood. The brains sampled showed that he suffered a blow or got hit by a rock. The narrator also explains that the scientist discovered the Iceman's stomach, which had moved due to the body getting squeezing by the ice and the stone he had been lying on (PBS Nova Documentary, 2017). The stomach had some food like meat, which might have been his last meat. That showed him, and his people might have just begun to firm but also depended on hunting. The narrator explains that the examination helped discover around 149 biological materials to help the scientists if further research in years to come.
