Journal: Theories and goal
How could a greater understanding of theories related to deviance and crime in society change or be important to your professional goals and aspirations?
The understanding of theories related to deviance and crime in society change is important because one of the process of theory in deviance is that it will have us to look at it comprehensively. Looking at deviance from a theoretical perspective we will look at things from a different point of view with a better understanding of deviance when it comes to certain groups of people and the societal contribution to such behavior. When it comes to theory it will help us to understand why something deviant happens, also sometime there are things that may not be expressed as a deviant behavior and why there are other that will be looked at as deviant (Inderbitzin, Bates, & Gainey, 2017).
I believe that understanding the theory of anomie and strain theory will explain a lot of things that has been going on like for instance the BLM movement amongst other things. The reason that I picked this one out is because of everything that is going on in the world today with the different protests not only police brutality but everything that has a systemic agenda. The theory focus on the reason that there are crimes is because of the pressure from socio resources that is unequal in distribution. The people of such society have patterns that come about as they react to the condition that they have little or no control over (Inderbitzin, Bates, & Gainey, 2017).
