Document Preparation Assignment #3
James Wannabee is a nominated candidate for the position of President Elect for the American Association for Paralegal Education (AAfPE). First thing he needs to do is to compile a list of his friends to invite to the annual conference where he will be presenting on Computer Applications in the Legal Environment. The list should include their contact information. This list will be used to send out information about the upcoming conference.
Step One – Use Microsoft Excel
Create a header row with the following categories:

Save the Potential Invitee List as <LastName.FirstName.Potential Invitee List>
Step Two – Use Microsoft Word
Now that you have your list you are to create mailing labels using the Mail Merge function to send a letters to the ten (10) people on the Potential Invitee List. You want to let them know that the conference is in the planning stages and you want them to “save the date”.
Save the mail merge labels as <LastName.FirstName.Mail Merge Labels>
(you may want to strike through or remove some invitees later)

Step Three – Using the Internet for research
There are some the people on the Potential Invitee List that you haven’t talked to in a long time. Even though some of these ten (10) people are distant friends, for your own sanity you will research whether they are registered on the sex offender website to make sure you want to invite them to the conference. Go to http://www.state.nj.us/njsp/info/reg_sexoffend.html (Links to an external site.) to see if anyone on the list is a registered sex offender. You will need to read the introduction and click on “I agree” and continue to search the site by clicking on Individual Search. Input each person's name. If you find a potential invitee, save your results as a PDF.
Save the file name as <LastName.FirstName.Sex Offender Search Results>
In addition, you are also interested in seeing who is living in your neighborhood. Please perform a Geographic Search using your home address and zip code. (I WILL MESSAGE YOU THAT ONCE I ASSIGN YOU THE WORK)
Save those results as a PDF and label it <LastName.FirstName.Sex Offender Geo Search Results>
Step Four – Use Microsoft Power Point (PPT)
You want to do something a little different for the invitation to your presentation. You want to prepare a PPT Presentation consisting of six (6) slides. The slides should be a "save the date" with conference information, including time, date, location and what you will be presenting on, as well as, a candidate statement for the position of President Elect. Use your creative expertise to make it interesting and get your guests excited about attending the conference to support Mr. Wannabee!
Save the PPT as <LastName.FirstName.Save The Date>
