The following post is from another student to wish i have to reply. Due date is tomorrow. Please less than 10 % similarity
1. What is the best explanation of the difference between evidence-based practice and best practices?
Evidence- based practice is a research- based practice which has undergone a vigorous scientific evaluation in order to be proven effective. Best practices on the other hand are standardized techniques which have been accepted and have proven themselves over time. They do not undergo a similar scientific evaluation as evidence based practice (American psychological Association, 2009).
2. The two registered nurses review a variety of research studies to answer their proposed research questions. What is the difference in the efficacy of randomized controlled trials, integrative reviews, or meta-analysis with practice-based evidence for continuous process improvement?
Randomized controlled trials are studies that are used to measure how effective a new treatment is. It reduces bias and is an essential tool in determining the relationship between an intervention and a result. An integrative review is a method that summarizes a past theory in order to provide a more understanding of a healthcare problem. Meta- analysis is a procedure that uses statistics to combine the results of a number of studies so as to assess the results of intervention in studied.
3. The registered professional nurses must consider alternative support mechanisms when searching for the best evidence to support their clinical practice. What are possible mechanisms of support for evidence-based practice?
The mechanism of Exercising Agency which bridges the gap between action and agency and made things happen in a collective and individual manner. Reconciling Competing Priorities is a mechanism that brought together new practices which were competing with existing priorities in the practice. The learning by connecting mechanism which involved the ability to link new knowledge with an existing practice for better outcomes.
4. Describe the challenges that exist today for nurses in implementing evidence-based practice?
One of the greatest challenge is lack of knowledge to use in evidence based practice. Most nurses do not have the knowledge to incorporate their research in their practices. Another challenge is the negative attitude towards research as most nurses do not understand what the practice entails. Most nurses lack the knowledge on how to carry out research while others are not well equipped for research thus becoming a challenge to EBP. Another challenge is that nurses are overworked and therefore they have little time to research. They therefore opt for the easy way out instead of doing EBP (Houston, 2020).
