INSTRUCTIONAL POLICIES USE OF CLASS TIME: Class time will consist of lecture, demonstrations, hands-on lab assignments and testing. ASSIGNMENTS: Most assignments and associated support material will be posted on HFC Online. Be sure to familiarize yourself with this resource. Students are required to complete each assignment using available class time and open lab time necessary to complete the assignment outside of class. Assignments are due any time on the scheduled due date. Late assignments are penalized -5 late points for each class session late. A zero will be recorded for any assignment not turned in. All late assignments must be turned in no later than one week past the scheduled due date. (Turn in what you have completed at that point). At the instructor’s discretion, partial credit may be given for an assignment partially completed. An assignment that is copied will result in a zero for that assignment. A second occurrence of academic dishonesty will result in an “E” for the course. (See the Policy on Academic Dishonesty in the College Catalog) Each student is responsible for reading the text and handouts and not relying entirely on the instructor for presenting every detail as it relates to assignments, class room activities and the final exam. Questions related to homework will be answered at each class session as time permits. QUIZZES: Approximately two quizzes and a final exam will be given during the semester. All quizzes will be scheduled in advance. Failure to be present for a scheduled performance quiz will result in a score of zero for that quiz. Please contact the instructor if you have an emergency.

ATTENDANCE POLICY: Attendance will be taken daily. Consistent class attendance is necessary to successfully complete this course. Each student is required to be punctual. Three points will be deducted for each absence and one to three points will be deducted for being late (at the discretion of the instructor). If a student plans on being absent for an extended period of time it is the student’s responsibility to contact the instructor. If the college is closed due to bad weather, you need to listen to the local radio or TV station. The college has adopted the following policy: Henry Ford College requires students to actively participate in their learning with regular and sustained interaction. Since student success depends on active engagement, students who have NOT attended an entire class session by the College's Never Attended deadline will not be permitted into the class even if they are already enrolled in the class. Online students will be considered as "Never Attended" if they have not logged on or if they have only logged on without actively engaging in academically-related activities. All of the above students will be assigned a "Never Attended" grade on their record. This new policy can have significant impact on students utilizing financial aid. PROFESSIONAL PERFORMANCE: Students are expected to perform in the classroom as they would be expected to perform in the professional environment. Students will be evaluated on several factors to include, but not limited to;
• Preparedness – Students should arrive with ALL tools and materials required to participate
• Attentiveness – Students are expected to participate in lectures and lab work in the classroom.
• Proper Dress – Student should be dressed in a manner that does not inhibit their performance.
• Timeliness – Should arrive on time and prepared to learn. • Social etiquette – Students are expected to be polite and respectful of the learning
environment and other students and instructor. Students will be given a qualitative grade based on the student’s semester performance. Grades will range from 100-0 in 10 point increments.
