How to do Descriptive Statistics
Class:
It is important that you download Megastat and learn how to use it as soon as possible. Do not wait until the assignment is due.
Megastat is a statistical program used with Excel to analyze statistical data.
You will not do math formulas in this class, you will let Megastat compute the answers and you will learn how to interpret them.
Go to one of the Websites below or use the zip files in the Megastat Learning Activity. Follow the install instructions.

I put the Megastat icon on my desktop next to Excel.
Launch Excel.
Log in your data.
Launch Megastat. Enable Macros. Add-Ins Tab. Megastat Menu.
Descriptive statistics.
Default checked boxes:
· Mean, Sample Variance & Standard Deviation, Minimum, Maximum, Range.
Also check:
· Runs plot. Left mouse grab and copy and paste each.
· Standard error of the mean.
· Confidence interval [95%]. Check the t box.
· Skewness, kurtosis, CV.
· Normal curve goodness of fit.
Input range of data with left mouse click drag.
Click: OK
Output will appear on Output Tab.
Highlight the section on the Output Tab. Save and Paste to the Word Document.
NOTE: The runs plot graphs stack one on top of the other. Left mouse click drag the top one to see the other.
To always keep Megastat on Excel: open the Windows colored icon on the left, Excel Options,
Add-Ins, Manage Excel Add-Ins, Go, Check Megastat, OK.
