You may be familiar with the iPhone feature that allows you to filter your inbox by known and unknown senders. However, sometimes they can go there by mistake, such as updates from an app https://apps.apple.com/us/app/call-recorder-for-iphone/id1503665233. This is handy if you get a lot of messages you don't want from people you don't know. But what if you find someone you know in your iPhone's unknown sender inbox?
We're going to show you how to move someone from the Unknown Sender list to the Known Senders list on iPhone messages.
Transferring from an unknown sender to a known sender in the Messages app on iPhone
Note that filters are not available to you if message filtering is not enabled on your device, so this tip does not apply to you.
1) Open the Messages as usual
2) Tap "Filters" and go to "Unknown Senders"
3) Find a sender you know or want to go to "Known Senders" and open their message thread.
4) Send that person a message reply, it can be anything, but just sending a message will transfer their message from the unknown sender to the unknown sender
5) Repeat this with other senders if you want to transfer known senders from unknown senders
Only by By replying to their message, whether it's a text or an iMessage, do you move them from unknown senders to known senders.
There are no menu options or enhancements to move messages between filtered emails, it's just assumed that you must know the person when you reply, so their messages go back to your main messages.
Note that this is not possible if you have blocked their messages from your iPhone, as you will no longer receive messages from that person, they will disappear into the ether so that no one but the sender can see them.
