Technological advancement represents the biggest and the most notable impact of our generations. People have embraced technology for the impact that it has created through increasing security, providing convenience, and reducing cost. Technological advancement help improving quality, increasing the quantity of production. Internet of things involves a segment of technology that Is responsible for representing the network for networks of objects. This means that through the internet of things technology people can be able to incorporate the internet on items that primarily did not have internet. Internet of things has been able to revolutionize the way people conduct business and the methods of data collection. The topic that I have embarked for the topic is “ The impact of the Internet of Things in the healthcare industry.” In the article, we will discuss, through annotated bibliography, the work of other scholars work on the above subjects.
Philip, V., Suman, V. K., Menon, V. G., & Dhanya, K. A. (2017). A review on the latest internet of things-based healthcare applications. International Journal of Computer Science and Information Security, 15(1), 248
The first article s titled “ review of the latest internet of things technology within the healthcare technology. In the article, the researcher is required to establish the latest trends when it comes to the latest IoT technological advancement in the healthcare sector and the issue related to the technologies. Some of the IoT technology that was examined included; ingestible sensors and their related issue included non-medical adherence, ambient assisted living; the biggest issue is blood glucose variation, the third IoT included smartphone medicine and the issue related to is blood-glucose variation.
Habibzadeh, H., Dinesh, K., Shishvan, O. R., Boggio-Dandry, A., Sharma, G., & Soyata, T. (2019). A survey of healthcare Internet of Things (IoT): A clinical perspective. IEEE Internet of Things Journal, 7(1), 53-71.
The second research topic regarding a survey of clinical IoT. A clinical perspective. Through the research, the researchers sought to understand the IoT components that revolutionize the healthcare sector through the surveyance of emerging and existing technologies. The study established that there were key areas that made up for the aspect of IoT revolutionizing in the health sector, sensing technology was established to be on a continuous rise as more people rely on it, communication, and lastly data analytics. These three segments of the IoT were found to be the main aspects that were mostly utilized in the health sector.
Dang, L. M., Piran, M., Han, D., Min, K., & Moon, H. (2019). A survey on the internet of things and cloud computing for healthcare. Electronics, 8(7), 768.
This survey analyzes the new IoT components, implementations, and industry dynamics in healthcare IoT, and also studies existing advances in healthcare applications focused on IoT and cloud computing since 2015. We also understand how the healthcare industry implements and discovers promising innovations such as cloud computing, ambient assisted living, big data, and wearables. The study established there is underlying importance on incorporating IoT and cloud computing in the healthcare sector, however, there are challenges that require to be overcome through consultation and research.
Qi, J., Yang, P., Min, G., Amft, O., Dong, F., & Xu, L. (2017). Advanced internet of things for personalized healthcare systems: A survey. Pervasive and Mobile Computing, 41, 132-149.
This paper provided a comprehensive analysis of advanced IoT-enabled PHS to consider the development of IoT technology in PHS. It also studied the latest IoT-enabled PHS research and core supporting technology, major IoT-enabled software, and popular healthcare case studies, and eventually point out potential developments and problems in research. The researcher utilized a literature review to conclude that although there are a lot of advantages associated with integrating internet of Things technology, there are challenges that would require concerted efforts to eradicate.
Javdani, H., & Kashanian, H. (2018). Internet of things in medical applications with a service-oriented and security approach: a survey. Health and Technology, 8(1), 39-50.
In the field of medicine, attempts have been made to investigate the Internet of Things with a service-oriented and security perspective and to make numerous distinctions regarding the work carried out, researchers, progress, growth of the Internet of Things in health care systems in terms of empowering the medical industry's technology and different uses of the Internet of Things and documenting the Internet of Things. In the article, the researcher sought to establish the impact of the application of the Internet of Things within the health care environment. Using literature review the researchers established the there are more benefits than shortcomings when it comes to implementing IoT in the healthcare industry.
