Transcript
This video is about the Week 4 Assignment: Course Project Milestone 2.
You will continue to use your choice of the required assigned topic for Milestones 2 and 3 because each assignment builds off the previous one to develop the entire project. Be sure to use the templates provided for you for Week 4: Milestone 2.
Remember that this assignment example is not prescriptive or the only way to complete this assignment. Your milestones should look different than mine. This is simply one example to facilitate your success. Do not use my topic or examples I provided for your course project. Using word-for-word information from the example is considered plagiarism and maybe an academic integrity violation. The examples are meant to serve as a guide and give you an idea as to the information that should be included. Remember that all submitted work must be original to you.
Now we can get started. You will see some keywords in the Milestone 2 assignment. Look for words like brief and bullet points. Bullet points are not full sentences and should be bullet points for each section. We are setting this up for the upcoming assignment for Milestone 3. If you aren’t familiar with PowerPoint assignments, please review the webinar presentation found in the Resources section. You will look under PowerPoint Resources for a presentation called “PowerPoint Presentation Basic Concepts”.
The first section of the Milestone 2 assignment is to define: Approved Patient Scenario from Milestone 1: You will provide a brief statement of the patient scenario from the Milestone 1 assignment. Include revisions, if required by Milestone 1 faculty feedback.
Remember the keyword is a brief statement. Also, don’t forget any revisions. Here is my example:
J.D. is a 23-year-old male, obese, without a previous medical diagnosis. Current Weight: 220 lbs. Current height: 5 feet 10 inches. BMI: 31.6 and BMI category: Obesity. Vital signs: Within Normal Limits. This patient doesn’t have a healthy diet or exercise regimen. He wants to be healthier and needs education needed on a healthy lifestyle.
The next session is teaching. Identify (3) teaching areas to improve patient outcomes. Information to be taught to the patient should include information about the mHealth app, safety guidelines, and how to interpret and act on the information that is provided. (Cite when appropriate). Remember to use bullet points.
Remember the keywords are bullet points. Bullet points are not full sentences and should clearly describe the point but without a sentence or ending punctuation. Here is my example:
- Information about the mHealth application:
- Reminders for daily activities- walking/meal prepping (APA citation)
- Options for which reminders to activate
- Calorie counter option
- Ability to set a goal weight and track progress
- Sends regular positive quotes (APA citation)
- Safety guidelines for mHealth application:
- No restrictions on weight loss targets/goals
- Potential for “extreme” weight loss
- Potential risk: focus on certain “size”
- Need for health and wellness
- Use the app with provider education
- How to interpret and act on the information in the mHealth application:
- Simple
- User-friendly
- Easy to follow
- Weight tracking monitor
- See potential progress
- Follow-up with the provider on success
The next section is the evaluation section. You will describe 3 ways you would determine and evaluate the success of the patient’s use of the mHealth app. (Cite when appropriate). Remember to use bullet points.
Here is my example in bullet points:
- Show ways to navigate mHealth application
- Review weight loss with app use
- Determine changes in the level of activity
The final section is the citations and references.
App Name/Company. (Year). Title (Version 1.0) [Mobile app]. App Store. Hyperlink
Go to page 340 in your APA 7th edition textbook. This goes step-by-step how to complete a Mobile app in an appropriate format. Remember all the valuable APA resources in the Resources section of the course.
This concludes the Milestone 2 helpful hints video. I hope you have found this recording to be beneficial.
