Central Idea/Thesis: Paddle Boarding offers many positive aspects including tremendous health benefits, easy availability, and a wide range of activities and uses that it can be used for.
Purpose Statement: The purpose of my speech is to inform my audience about the benefits of paddle boarding.
Significance: Paddle boarding is a great hobby to pick up, so people should know how it will affect them.
Credibility: I have personal experience since I paddle board in my free time.

Transitional Statement: Let’s start with some of the health benefits of paddle boarding.
I. Paddle boarding is great for your health.
a. This activity is a low impact full body workout.
i. A low impact full body workout means the entire body is being used, but doesn’t stress the body.
b. Helps to improve balance
c. Reduces risks associated with being overweight
i. These risks include joint problems and heart issues.
d. Helps with relaxation
Transitional Statement: These health benefits would be great for everyone, thankfully almost everyone can enjoy this activity.
I. Paddle Boarding is easily available.
a. There are no age restrictions.
b. Can be done wherever there is water.
i. Can be the ocean, a lake or many other places.
c. In some places it can be a year round activity.
i. Even if the water isn't warm, you can still go during the winter in a wet suit.
d. Not much equipment is needed
i. Water, paddle and board are the only things required.
Transitional Statement: Since there is such easy access, everyone can enjoy the abundance of activities that can be done on a paddle board.
I. People use paddle boards for various activities.
a. Yoga
i. An easy way to relax while on a paddle board
ii. Helps with balance more than normal yoga
iii. I don’t like yoga on land, but adding the element of water makes it more entertaining.
b. Competitions
i. Many types of races ranging from timed competitions to who can stay on the longest.
c. Fishing
d. Sightseeing
i. A great way to learn and teach others about the nature near your home.
e. Surfing
f. Sun tanning
i. Another great way to relax and get some vitamin D
Conclusion
I. Whether you’re 5 or 75 you can learn not only how to paddle board, but also learn new activities and find something you can enjoy with the entire family.
II. Even beginners who are uncoordinated and have no balance can have fun on paddle boards while improving their balance and health.
III. Paddle boarding is a great activity for anyone to stay active and try something new.
