Intercultural Communication: Paper Assignment

For this assignment you will pick one country from the continent circled below, find five academic journal articles about the culture in the country you chose, and write a paper about what you learned from your articles and how it relates to communication (and other class material).

The paper should contain 3 parts:

1. Introduction and why you chose your country.

2. Summary of the articles.

3. What you learned about the country’s culture and how it relates to communication.

Keep in mind that culture is an all-encompassing term. So your articles could be on the culture of your country in general or one aspect of culture. When discussing how it relates to the course, you can focus on anything we have discussed (nonverbal, dimensions, relationship development, conflict, shock and adaptation…).

Details:

· The paper should be no longer than 6 double-spaced pages long.

· You should find 5 quality sources (discussed in class) for your paper. For each missing source there will be a 15% penalty off your grade.

· You should use APA style of citation. Keep your articles as I might ask for them.

· Your paper should be stapled with no plastic cover or binding.

· You MUST staple this sheet with your paper as the cover sheet. Not a copy—this exact sheet.

· Web pages do not count, but articles retrieved through web databases are ok.

· If you have questions about your articles, please ask. Do not wait to the last minute.

· This paper is due on the last day of class.

· I will take 25% off for a paper that is electronically sent to me.
