Film Analysis
The origin of the Iron Man Tony Start can be said to be among the most divisive periods representing the Vietnam War and the Cold War. In most cases, individuals hold the thinking that the origin of the Eastern War can be attributed to the politics conflict. However, it becomes clear that the Iron Man’s character was not born a supermansuperhero, but was rather incarnated from the military, which shows a greater level of alignment with politics when compared to the superheroes depicted in other movies. Originally, the Iron Man works for the government with a primary objective of protecting the country from international and external threats. This makes Iron Man an important figure in providing security and safety in the country. The development of the Iron Man (2008) clearly illustrates the significance of advancements in technology. Comment by Microsoft Office User: YES!
At the beginning, the Iron Man shows a wide short of a desert in Afghan, which is critically aimed at conveying some great deal of information. In 2008, the American public was tremendously conscious regarding the War on Terror. The desert landscape is utilized to communicate to the public about some parts of the world such as the Middle East, Afghanistan, and Iraq that primarily implies danger (Pedersen and Luke 292). The angle of the desert shot is used in enhancing the desired implication of danger. At the lower right corner are rocks that give the viewers an opportunity of orienting themselves in the camera’s position within the landscape. In the background, the mountains provide a significant scope with traveling vehicles in the open area showing their vulnerability in terms of potential attacks. Comment by Microsoft Office User: Setting Comment by Microsoft Office User: A bit too vague for a topic sentence, which should serve as the link to your thesis statement as well as the thesis of your paragraph. Not sure quite how this connects to your thesis- make the connection more explicit. Comment by Microsoft Office User: When specifically in the film? If you are going to reference an exact shot, you need an in-text citation!
Tony Stark, a wealthy industrialist, endeavors to develop an armored suit following an incident that threatens his life. In this regard, the film presents how he untimely makes the decision of utilizing technology towards fighting against the enemies (Niittynen and Jukka 18). As a film that portrays the genre of superheroes, the film shows how the stalemate manifested is ultimately solves by the superhero conventions of the good and evil dichotomies. In Iron Man, the ideological factors forming the superhero are highly manifested, which gives an opportunity for the superhero genre to be effectively fulfilled while the capitalist ideal being maintained (Pedersen and Luke 292). The capitalist attribute is undoubtedly manifested in the Iron Man film as a dominant ideology in the American society whereby ownership concept is highly encouraged. Comment by Microsoft Office User: This is a plot point more than a topic sentence. Additionally, transition? Comment by Microsoft Office User: Dichotomy of good versus evil. Comment by Microsoft Office User: Good point, you should add this idea of capitalism within your thesis.
As the major protagonist in the movie, Iron Man plays out the capitalist ideas, particularly considering he owned the company that specialized in the manufacture of military weaponry for the United States government. The lifestyle of Tony Stark clearly connects personal initiative, private enterprise, and ownership to such attributes as autonomy, success, and wealth. Throughout the film, Stark adheres and maintains capitalism. This can be manifested where he was awarded for his duty to the country. Many people attend the award ceremony with the voice of the announcer narrating numerous images. Success, hard work, and intelligence portrayed by Stark are considered to be critical in his illustrious image in the United States. Comment by Microsoft Office User: Transition? Why did you split this paragraph from the last one? Comment by Microsoft Office User: This is a good idea; however, as it is currently written, it doesn’t clearly connect to your thesis statement. Comment by Microsoft Office User: Thus far, you have not really relied heavily on any analysis of specific scenes/moments/quotes from the text itself, which are necessary to prove points such as these true to your reader. Comment by Microsoft Office User: I’m not quite sure how this idea links to the larger idea outlined in your thesis regarding technology and terrorism.
The Iron Man also portrays the aspect of ethics and moral obligation. The diligence and hard work exhibited by Iron Man is an indication that he was a morally sound individual. Initially, being wealthy seems to compromise his ethical connotation as he engages in gambling and becoming a womanizer. However, upon realizing that he is significantly out of balance, he engages on a mission to transform. This aspect closely connects to the epitome of technology and progress exhibited the Iron Man movie (Pedersen and Luke 294). The ideal of technological advancements is tremendously extolled. Ideally, the individuals in possession of the most advanced and best technological knowhow is bound to have the greatest power and increases the chances of success. Comment by Microsoft Office User: Weak transition- need to more strongly link your ideas together between the different paragraphs. Comment by Microsoft Office User: Not sure how this links to thesis statement. Comment by Microsoft Office User: Extolled by whom?
Technology proves to be vital in supporting the life of Tony Stark who would require a magnetic heart doohickey. Instead of building a Jericho missile as instructed, Stark endeavors to construct an armored metal suit that helps him in escaping from where he was imprisoned. When he returned, he was able to see the amount of damage caused by the weapons produced by his company (Pedersen and Luke 295). As such, a move to ensure that the company did not engage in further weapon dealings was brought to the table. However, there was still the notion that the individuals with the biggest and the most sophisticated weapons are capable of keeping the most desired peace. With this in mind, Tony Stark focused on building a streamlined suit that was able to fly. This suit tremendously leveraged on technology as it had such features as unlimited power source and wowed the sci-fi weapons in terms of booting (Niittynen and Jukka 19). Because he did not have any intention of selling his suit to sell the incredible suit to any American government bidders, Tony Stark endeavored to ensure that he personally eliminated all the weapons in the world manufactured and distributed by his company because due to the danger they exposed to the world. At one point, he says that “If we can’t protect the world, you can be damn sure we’ll avenge it” (Niittynen and Jukka 21). Undoubtedly, the film involves documentary-like camera work with numerous types of cameras. The practical effects are seamlessly blended with computer effects. To a greater extent, almost all aspects of the movie involves visual sense. Comment by Microsoft Office User: Transition? Comment by Microsoft Office User: Again, this topic sentence reads more like a plot point rather than a piece that includes a connection to your thesis statement and serves as the thesis of your paragraph. Comment by Microsoft Office User: Too colloquial Comment by Microsoft Office User: You should be utilizing primary source citations to support this point, which is a plot point, rather than secondary sources. Comment by Microsoft Office User: Your paragraphs here seem to be showing a clash between technology for capitalist gains and technology for the greater good (at this point utilized for anti-terrorist means). Comment by Microsoft Office User: This quote is from the Avengers movie, not Iron Man. Comment by Microsoft Office User: Yes, but this seems like a tangent within your paragraph.
It is clear that the Iron Man movie is created on the basis of special effects. Tony Stark and Obadiah utilize armored robotic suits that are intriguing in terms of upstaging lesser film actors in the movie. In particular, the giant iron men are a reflection of how personalities can be amplified with technology in use. Whatever Stark engages in doing seems preposterous even when they do not wear the suits (Niittynen and Jukka 21). With technology being at the center of the film, some scenes exhibit some real grandeur. This can be evidenced when Stark embarks on testing how high his suit was capable of flying. The implication is that the film depicts secret laboratories, seamless sleekness and out-scale enormity that are utilized in showing the role of technology in dealing with such issues as national security and combatting terrorism. Comment by Microsoft Office User: Not sure how this connects to the thesis.
Conclusion
Although fiction is at the heart of the Iron Man movie, there is no doubt that real life aspects are equally manifested. The ultimate weapon in the film is humanoid.
