For each of the names listed below, write a 1-paragraph response that describes the individual’s contribution to the early childhood field.
John Amos Comenius
From the description he was Czech theologian philosopher who advocated for universal learning materials (textbooks) and language. He also believed that children should enjoy learning more in the case they are methodically taught in early years. Additionally, he thought that instruction should move in a general to specific therefore it should start from easy to difficult hence, children should be engaged with nature. Finally, he taught that education should start from earliest days of childhood and it should continue throughout the life.
Johann Pestalozzi
He believed in a whole-child approach which mainly focused on head, heart and hands. According to him, education was like a vehicle which shapes and creates a more just society. Therefore, he believed in universal education to all since through education a just society is created. His approach has been adopted by many for instance early mode of education was advocating for education among the children to boost confidence more people.
Friedrich Froebel
He is known as childhood education pioneer. The greatest contribution especially to the care and education of young children was the invention of kindergarten. Which was adapted to a variety of international settings. Additionally, he believed that human are essentially productive and creative. He followers resulted t the Froebel movement which was to establish kindergarten across the states hence making child education more essential and universal to all.
Maria Montessori
Maria Montessori always said her greatest contribution was that she observed children and discovered. Their true characteristics and the true nature of their work. She found that the work of the child during the early childhood years is the building of the man or woman of tomorrow. Montessori broke gender barriers and expectations when she enrolled in classes at an all-boys technical school, with hopes of becoming an engineer
Susan Blow
As an important leader in education from Missouri. She founded the first public kindergarten in St. Louis and ran it for eleven years without any pay. Blow worked hard to give young children a good start in their education
John Dewey
Was an American philosopher and educator who helped found pragmatism, a philosophical school of thought that was popular at the beginning of the 20th century. He was also instrumental in the progressive movement in education, strongly believing that the best education involves learning through doing
Patty Smith Hill
Was a leader in the Kindergarten movement and an advocate of the value of free play in the education of young children. John Dewey's principles of education influenced Hill greatly, especially his theories of progressive schools and moral education
Caroline Pratt
This experiment led to her launching the Play School, which embodied a child-centered approach to education. with a strong emphasis on community as children worked together to reconstruct their experiences through play.
Lucy Sprague Mitchell
A leader in the child study movement, Mitchell saw herself as an experimentalist. In addition, she democratized progressive education by spreading its ideals through teacher education and the development of children's writers. He was also the founder of Bureau of Educational Experiments (BEE)
McMillan Sisters
They advocated for school meals and open one of England’s first school-based health clinics. Margaret said, in 1918, when it became statutory to have Nursery schools preferably open air that a garden grown humanity cannot be as the humanity of the grime and of the street.

The Kindergarten Movement
It was a small coterie of German emigre who was devoted to the educational idea of Fredrich Froebel. Its impact is that it resulted to the development of communication skills that helped reading and writing, it resulted to the responsibility and independence. It also aided children in getting good amount of growth in general.
The Inclusion Movement
It was a movement which advocate for the rights of people with disability. Therefore, the movement championed for freely accommodates people with physical, mental, cognitive and developmental disability. Its impact was that it allowed all aspect of child development to be supported. Therefore, it was necessary for child to grow in adapting skills, self-help and social skills. In general the movement was set up to promote learning in all developmental areas by imitating peer model and work partners which have skills.
The Progressive Education Movement
It is defined as the kind of education movement which emphasizes more on experience than formal learning. Therefore, it is based more on experiential learning that concentrate on the development of child’s talents. Impact is that education for women affected the movement. It also undermines the need of going to school since it is not a must one to get formal education rather than experience.
Founding of National Association for Nursery Education (NANE)/ National Association for the Education of Young Children (NAEYC)
The movement was initiated by Patty Smith in 1926. It aims was to concern about the proliferation of educational programs for preschool children staffed by individuals without adequate knowledge about child development and effective strategies for child education. To increase understanding and support for high-quality early childhood education. NAEYC works among policymakers and the public through its education, advocacy, and public awareness activities. NAEYC also sponsors the Week of the Young Child each spring to focus public attention on the rights and needs of young children.
The Bureau of Education Experiments
It was led by network of women who pioneered in the one education of twentieth-century America. The movement came as an idea and work of founder Lucy Sprague Mitchell and Harriet Johnson who was among experimental educator. Impact of the movement is that it resulted in improved social skills and better performance grades. The Bank Street Bookstore opened in 1970 in the lobby of Bank Street College, moving to its second location on 112th Street and Broadway shortly thereafter. Now located on Broadway and West 107th Street, Bank Street Book Store operates as a community bookstore for New York's Upper West Side, selling children's books and educational toys and games. The Child Abuse Prevention and Treatment Act

It also sets forth a minimum definition of child abuse and neglect.
The Economic Opportunity Act and the Founding of Head Start

Hart and Risley’s Meaningful Differences in the Everyday Experience of Young American Children
Betty Hart and I have been working together for thirty-five years, since 1965, actually. We did that with the poorer African-American kids from the poverty. First is the NATIONAL ASSOCIATION FOR THE EDUCATION OF YOUNG CHILDREN (NAEYC). It is mainly focusing on the educator who works with children.
Secondly, Association for Childhood Education International- It works with children from birth to their teenage years. Through the organization, educators can get the support and professional resources that they need. The ACEI provides the latest information about best practices in early childhood education (Meyer, 1971). There are also grants, awards and scholarships to help educators learn more about the field.
National Head Start Association (NHSA)- This is one of the professional early childhood education associations that is devoted specifically to Head Start children. The NHSA is designed to support the Head Start community through training and professional development. It performs research, releases the latest information and provides resources for educators Brooks-Gunn, 2005).
From the above organizations, their respective purpose and function in which each of the organisation plays has been elaborated in detail. Therefore, childhood education is one of the key issues the society should consider when planning for the future. It is argued that future generation lies to the development of the kids. Maybe through advocating of the above organisation the stake of early childhood education is respected and adhered to. If there was no such organization am sure their evolution of education sector will be diminished.

Summary
From the completing the BSN curriculum and achieving the program outcomes will prepare me in the meeting the UTM nursing department in the following ways. First the curriculum has introduction to which it has talked about different people who have contributed to nursing and early childhood. This therefore acts as the basis of nursing. Additionally, the curriculum has also signified events in nursing. Third the curriculum talks about organization of childhood and lastly organization advocating early childhood. Through this, I am sure to meet the nursing department since I had solid background of nursing and the need to achieve in my nursing career.
