Instructions and steps for the assignment:

1. This is a group assignment. You can form a team of 2 or 3 members.

2. Select any two companies listed on the Tadawwul. The chosen companies should be from the same industry. You can choose any industry except insurance and banking.

3. Download the financial statements of the chosen companies for the last three years. (These statements need to be submitted as appendix.)

4. Perform the following ratio analysis for each of the companies

a) Two performance Measures

b) Any four profitability ratios

c) Any four efficiency ratios

d) Any four debt ratios

e) Any four liquidity ratios

5. Based on your calculations for each of the topics above, discuss your findings under the following heading:

a) Comparative analysis of performance of the two companies.

b) Critical evaluation of both companies’ performance for the last three years.

6. Appendix should contain the following:

A. Financial statements of the chosen companies for the last three years

B. An excel sheet summarizing the financial statements

C. Detailed calculations, formulas and steps used

D. Teamwork Report

7. The assignment will be submitted as a PowerPoint Report (Soft and Hard copy). For the hard copy submission, print this file with the completed front page, attach the PowerPoint slides as two slides per page on both sides. The soft copy will be submitted through the Assignment submission link on Blackboard.

The Rubric

1. Introduction: Discuss the Purpose of the assignment, what you did and how you did it, what was your learning from the work done and how it helps you understand the course better. (3-5 Slides) 5 marks

2. Comparative Analysis: Discussion of your findings from the calculation made. Description of ratio categories and each ratio that was used, the calculated numbers, your understanding and analysis of the same, the comparison of chosen companies with reference to each of the ratios. What does the result indicate, which company is better? What are your justifications? (5-10 Slides) 20 marks
