Information Technology partakes an integral part of any business today. Information

Technology solutions can be deployed to get activities of the enterprise effected in an

effective way cheaply. GENEX, which is a manufacturer of crude and natural gas will

require its Information Technology divisions to assist the corporate processes and

expansions to face the competitive better. Technological systems, for example, SAP shoul

be integrated into the company to regulate the business from the acquisition of raw

materials to the point of consumption. This will make the enterprise more competitive

and some IT firms have become the key success factors despite the fact that their core

business is not related to Information Technology (TechRepublic, 2015).

5 THE CHIEF EXECUTIVE OFFICER STATED THAT HE WANTS A MUCH

MORE AGILE AND RESPONSIVE IT COMPANY THAT IN THE PAST. This

serves as an evidence that the kind of IT used by Genex is far much below the industry

culture. 5 BEING THE LARGEST MARKETER TO RETAIN THEIR POSITION

WHILE ACQUIRING OTHER FIRMS, IT IS IMPORTANT TO HAVE A STRON

TECHNOLOGICAL SYSTEM TO HOLD EVERY DIVISION AND FIRMS

TOGETHER. ELSE LACK OF INTEGRATION MAY LEAD TO

CANNIBALIZATION BY EACH DIVISION. CONSIDERING THE EXCUSES

GIVEN BY THE INFORMATION TECHNOLOGY STAFF, WHEN THE FIRM

NEEDS TO FIND SOME INFORMATION, IT IS CLEAR THAT GENEX IT

SYSTEMS ARE INDEED LESS EFFICIENT.

REAL-TIME INFORMATION IS REQUIRED TO TAKE THE BUSINESS

DECISION AND IT IS VITAL THAT IT SYSTEMS GIVE A STABLE PLATFORM

TO MANAGE THE COMPANY EFFECTIVELY. The CEO has clearly highlighted the

inefficiency of the current It system in the company. The company need to use technology

in every part of the business in order to remain competitive. 5 SIMILARLY, DEVLIN

THE FORMER DIRECTOR OF THE CORPORATE DIVISION HAS BEEN

APPOINTED BY THE CEO SUGGESTING THAT HE WANTS TO PAY

ATTENTION TO IT OF THE GENEX. THE CHIEF EXECUTIVE OFFICER

UNDERSTANDS THE IMPORTANCE OF IT AND THIS IS WHY HE

APPOINTED DEVLIN TO INTRODUCE SAP WHICH IS A TECHNOLOGICAL

PLATFORM FOR MANAGING THE SUPPLY CHAIN.

HARDWARE AND SOFTWARE EVER PRODUCED”, IT IS VERY CLEAR THA

HE KNOWS THAT GENEX IS A MESS. BEING THE COMPANY DIRECTOR,

HE HAS KNOWLEDGE OF THE ORGANIZATION’S PROBLEMS HENCE IT IS

CLEAR THAT THERE WAS THE UNAVAILABILITY OF MANAGEMENT

INFORMATION WHICH WAS HANDLED BY THE INFORMATION

TECHNOLOGY DEPARTMENT. HE ALSO CONVINCES US THAT HE

UNDERSTANDS HOW IT IS HARD TO IMPLEMENT SAP BY SAYING “AND

THEY WANT TO BRING SAP”. THIS SHOWS THAT HE HAS FACED

TREMENDOUS PROBLEMS IN HANDLING COMPANY DIVISION IN THE

PAST BECAUSE OF A LACK OF A COMMON SYSTEM TO GENERATE THE

CORPORATE STRATEGY (SEARCHSAP, 2015).

SIMILARLY, SANDY CLAIMS “IS THE FACT THAT YOU HAVE NO

INTEGRATION AS YOU DISCOVERED FOR YOURSELF, NICK”. THIS

SHOWS THAT DEVLIN KNEW ABOUT THE COMPLICATED NATURE OF

WIDE SYSTEMS (SUCH AS SAP) AT GENEX.

There are several strategies that can be employed to implement the enterprise-wide

systems at the company. The first strategy to be employed is the wise selection of data tha

is appropriate for establishing an enterprise-wide system such as SAP at the company. It

the repetition of events in three divisions as this will make it possible for GENEX to have

economies of scale. 5 THIS WILL ENABLE TO COMPANY TO IMPLEMENT AN

EFFECTIVE ENTERPRISE-WIDE SYSTEM SUCH AS SAP. Thirdly, the creation o

virtual teams is very paramount to carry out various tasks. Virtual teams are necessary

since the company operates across a vast geographical region. Finally, make all the

suppliers of the company informed of the full implementation of the enterprise-wide

systems such as ASAP to ensure that you get their support and integration of the supply
