Mean absolute deviation calculator soup

16/11/2021 Client: muhammad11 Deadline: 2 Day

Graded Discussion. 5.0 Points Possible. Nov 9, 2017 3:11 AM Your initial discussion thread is due on Day 3 (Thursday) and you have until Day 7 (Monday) to respond to your classmates. Your grade will reflect both the quality of your initial post and the depth of your responses. Refer to the Discussion Forum Grading Rubric under the Settings icon above for guidance on how your discussion will be evaluated. Data Analysis For this discussion, you will organize data sets into meaningful number groupings, calculate basic descriptive values, and communicate written critiques of statistical analyses. This exercise requires the use of a descriptive statistics calculator. You can find this tool in some versions of Excel (as part of the Analysis ToolPak) or you can use one of the many free online descriptive calculators such as the Descriptive Statistics Calculator by Calculator Soup. To begin, come up with 20 different data points (that will form a set of data) and enter them into the first column of an Excel spreadsheet. The data points can be any numbers you want as long as there are 20 of them. You will then use the descriptive statistics option in your descriptive statistics program or calculator. This is explained in Chapter 1 of your course text. You should get an output similar to the image in Figure 1.1. This output must contain the following values: mean, standard error, median, mode, standard deviation, sample variance, kurtosis, skewness, range, minimum, maximum, sum, and count. Address the following points in your initial post: Begin your discussion by reporting your results for each of the values listed above. Based on this output, which single value best describes this set of data and why? If you could pick three of these values instead of only one, which three would you choose and why? It is important to note that the answers to these questions may be different for each of you since you are each using unique sets of data. Guided Response: Review several of your classmates’ posts. Provide a substantive response to at least three of your peers, and respond to comments on your post. Do you agree with your classmate’s selection of the best value based upon their data? What suggestions might you make for other options? Explain your suggestions citing relevant information from the article and/or your text. Cite your sources in APA format as outlined in the Ashford Writing Center. For this exercise, you may elect to use the "Analysis ToolPak" within Excel. This feature is already part of the 2007 and 2010 Excel program for Windows; however, it must be activated. The following directions were provided by the Help function within Excel. If you experience issues while following these steps, utilize the Help function within Excel or contact Microsoft's technical support for Excel. The Analysis ToolPak includes the tools described below. To access these tools, click Data Analysis in the Analysis group on the Data tab. If the Data Analysis command is not available, you need to load the Analysis ToolPak add-in program. Load the Analysis ToolPak: 1. Click the File tab, click Options, and then click the Add-Ins category. 2. In the Manage box, select Excel Add-ins and then click Go. 3. In the Add-Ins available box, select the Analysis ToolPak check box, and then click OK. Tip: If Analysis ToolPak is not listed in the Add-Ins available box, click Browse to locate it. If you are prompted that the Analysis ToolPak is not currently installed on your computer, click Yes to install it. Stuck on a problem? Mean: 14.55 Standard Error: 1.791023 Median: 15 Mode: 5 Standard Deviation: 8.009698 Sample Variance: 64.15526 Skewness: 0.372183 Kurtosis: -0.30226 Range: 30 Minimum: 3 Maximum: 33 Sum: 291 Count: 20 I believe the mean of 14.55 is the best descriptive value of showing the average age of when people moved to the town. Based off the question of wanting to know if people moved to the town at younger or older ages. The mean shows me that, on average, people in their teens moved to the town. If I could pick three data sets instead of just one, I would pick the range, variance, and mean. I would pick the mean because it gives me the most insight into the ages of people moving to the town. I would pick the range because it would give me the information of the youngest and oldest age of when the samples moved to the town. The variance would help me to know how the individual scores differed from the mean. This would clue me into how different the ages were that were listed from the sample. From the variance being 64.15526, this shows that there was a lot of variety of move in ages, that not a lot of people moved in during the same age. 11unread Channey Chan Nov 8, 2017 10:14 PM Hello Class, Please bare with me, I am still trying to learn and understand these concepts which is quite new to me. I do know what graphs and statistics are as to this is getting to more in depth, and hopefully I can figure this out right. So the data I had used was through the Descriptive Statistics Calculator. I used how many people per household in a family size in my neighborhood. These were the data statistics I had found. 3,3,2,5,5,4,6,1,4,6,4,3,6,2,3,5,2,1,8,6 Mean: 45.75 Standard Error: 0.426 Median: 49.5 Mode: 3,6 Standard Deviation: 1.905 Sample Variance: 3.629 Kurtosis: 1.64 Skewness: 0.2082 Range: 4.5 Minimum: 1 Maximum: 8 Sum: 79 Count: 20 The single value that best describes this set of data is either the mean the average of family size or the mode which shows data of the most frequent family sizes there are. This can give you an idea of the population or any other kind or type of data contributing to your research or experiments using these variables can tell you either a higher or lower reason for any research. For an example, say you were doing a statistical search on whether there are bigger households in certain parts of towns which families hold higher families versus ones with lower family sizes. If I could choose three values instead of one I would choose the count, because depending on how many families you choose your answers to the database may change depending on how many families you choose. The median would tell me what the median number of family sizes there are and base my data off of that, and the mode which is which particular numbers are family sizes mostly occurring in. unread Valerie Borton Nov 8, 2017 11:48 PM Discussion By: Valerie Borton For this discussion, you will organize data sets into meaningful number groupings, calculate basic descriptive values, and communicate written critiques of statistical analyses. It has been awhile since I have done things like this, I understand some but not all so, I apologize for the lack of detail provided when answering the questions. Begin your discussion by reporting your results for each of the values listed above. Mode: 25, 27, 9, 7, 55, 77, 2, 4, 3, 14, 15, 13, 8, 1, 17, 18, 33, 38, 44, 11 Mean: 21.05 Median: 14.5 Minimum: 1 Maximum: 77 Range: 76 Standard Error: 4.432 Standard Deviation: 19.82 Skewness: 1.342 Kurtosis: 4.128 Sum: 421 Count: 20 Based on this output, which single value best describes this set of data and why? I feel like the maximum is the best value because it gives you an idea of what the range of numbers are for this set. With having an idea of of what the largest number is, it will give you a better idea how extent the set is. If you could pick three of these values instead of only one, which three would you choose and why? If I could pick three, it would be maximum, minimum, and mean. With these three sets, it will give you a better idea of the range this set is and the variety of numbers used. unread Ayanna Jeffers Nov 9, 2017 3:11 AM Hello Class, For this discussion I wanted to calculate the average amount of pets someone has in their household. I came up with these data points 1,2,3,5,3,3,2,1,4,3,3,2,2,5,3,2,1,2,3,1 This was the calculation that was made through the Descriptive Statistics Calculator Minimum: 1 Maximum: 5 Range: 4 Count: 20 Sum: 51 Mean: 2.55 Median: 2.5 Mode: 3 Standard Deviation: 1.191 Variance: 1.418 Mid Range: 3 Quartiles: Quartiles: Q1 --> 2 Q2 --> 2.5 Q3 --> 3 Interquartile Range (IQR): 1 Sum of Squares: 26.95 Mean Absolute Deviation: 0.95 Root Mean Square (RMS): 2.802 Std Error of Mean: 0.2663 Skewness: 0.536 Kurtosis: 2.627 Coefficient of Variation: 0.467 Relative Standard Deviation: 46.7% Frequency Table Value Frequency Frequency % 1 4 20.00 2 6 30.00 3 7 35.00 4 1 5.00 5 2 10.00 I think that the maximum describes the best part of the data. From this point you could use the data to suggest a maximum of 5 different or the same household pets could be in someone's home. For example, if I was a relator I would use this information to let someone know what they could expect from a pet friendly neighborhood. I would help people with budgets and understanding the average costs of a pet owner owning between 1-5 pets. If I had to choose three vaules instead of one vaule that is important I would choose the maximum, mean, and varience. The maximum is important because it helps you let people know the highest amout to expect from something. The mean is important because it shows us the middle, some people could learn how to balance based off of the mean. The varience is important because it describes different varities of caculations, it represents that nothing is going to favor more than the other sometimes there can be a big variety to expect. unread
