Mother tongue amy tan answer key

12/11/2021 Client: muhammad11 Deadline: 2 Day

Summarize the source in a paragraph of 5-8 sentences.

There was sudden tension when there was change in power I the south Arabia nation. This event was followed by a new king assuming the office. Various sources are indicating that Saudis came to power because of weak surrounding states. The Saudis have joined various nations' infighting for one common enemy. For stability, the Cairo region needs to embrace democracy. Egypt has often been viewed as the de facto of the entire Arab nations not until when Hosni Mubarak was removed from power. (Kirkpatrick and David D,2015).

Finalized writing plan and expanding on the essay

Amy tan who claims not to be a scholar of English says that she cannot give out more variations and opinions on the English language. He insists that he is only a writer who simply has the love for languages. She goes ahead and says that much of his time is spent on thinking about language. He says “language is the tool of my trade."

Amy Tan says that she has been recently requested to make a talk on one of his books referred to as the (joy luck club). As the talk was going on, he realized that her mother was part of his audience. She says she was using one of the varieties of English’s that she has never used before her mother. She uttering words such as ‘’ the intersection of memory upon imagination’’, “there is an aspect of my fiction that relates to thus –and- thus.''

According to her speech was full of grammatical phrases nominalized forms, conditional phrases, past perfect tenses and all forms of Standard English that he had learned in school. The previous week he stated that as she was walking with her mother, she made an utterance ‘'not waste money that way’’. Her husband didn’t realize this because they have been communicating using the same dialect for over 20 years. (Kirkpatrick and David D,2015).

One day in the wedding her mother said "having the business like the fruit stand. Like off the street ….” Amy kind tan claims that her mother meaningful use of language relies on how much she understood. Some people claimed that they did not understand what her mother was saying because she was speaking Chinese instead of English.

Amy tan goes ahead and calls the English dialect that her mother spoke of being broken and being limited. She illustrated this by quoting words that her mother once said before they traveled to New York ‘' I can't tolerate any more excuses. . (Kirkpatrick and David D,2015). If I don't receive the check immediately am going to have to speak to your manager when I am in New York next week."

Amy tan says during her college years she began writing as a freelance where she wrote sentences that she could barely comprehend today, for instance, one of the lines in her first draft copy of her books was "that was my mental quandary in its nascent state."

The instructor’s feedback read that finally, her mother complimented her literary works as being simple to read.

Overview of the work, briefly describing main points and your thoughts about the writing. Include the author's name and title of the article in this overview.

Many thoughts about the works of Amy tan on his book entitled mother tongue is that practice really helped her to transform on her dialects of English. Through her persistence writings on the works of literature, she can comfortably switch from one dialect to another depending on her environment. She, therefore, addresses the concern that the English language is not related to intelligence. (Kirkpatrick and David D,2015).

2) re-write your claim in the textbox below. If you are still happy with your original claim, enter.

The original claim is still the best approach because Amy Tan uses facts that can actually be proven. for instance, when she claims on the attitude that the Asian American have towards lite

3. Re-write the first supporting point in the textbox below. Then list one way in which the reading supports this point.

The author insists on the idea of never judge a person's intelligence by their English-language. The use is affected by one's background knowledge hence poor language may be used to present an essential message.

Reading supports this claim because according to Amy she says that research revealed how Asians performed poorly in language but excelled in other fields.

4. Specific evidence to support this first key point

When she says that "the Asian-Americans students who're English spoken in their home might be broken" this is evident in his writing mother tongue. (Kirkpatrick and David D,2015).

5. Write 1-2 sentences that explain how this piece of evidence supports the author's goal

The author's goal is that increasingly diverse in learning and writing will lead to a person acquiring the good command of English language which she achieved as her goal.

I strongly agree with the author's message since practice makes perfect. The author was able to acquire the good command of English language because of her literary writings as a freelance. Additional information needs to be included on how to develop the positive attitude towards the English language. (Kirkpatrick and David D,2015).

6. Write the second key point/supporting point from your Assignment 1:

The second key point is that language is a tool of trade- language is only used for communication between two or more parties. It's important because language despite being a media for communication it serves a lot of functions such as being used in trading activities.

7. Now look for specific evidence to support this second key point.

The specific evidence is when Amy Tan quotes what her mother said “I can’t tolerate any more excuses. If I don’t receive the check immediately am going to have to speak to your manager when I am in New York next week”. This is a trading tool.

8. Write 1-2 sentences that explain how this piece of evidence supports your claim.

The most reliable evidence is associating how the Asians Americans had developed the negative attitude towards the English language.

I agree as per what the author is saying because negative attitude will often affect the performance of a personal language. Therefore, it’s important that learners should first have the inner drive of learning the language. (Kirkpatrick and David D,2015).

9. Write the third key point/supporting point from your Assignment 1:

the third key point is the fact that the quality of English used does not lower or higher the quality of what is to be said- poor English is associated with imperfect thoughts, and these people are often not taken seriously which is not the case as language is just a carrier of the message

10. Now look for specific evidence to support this third key point.

The specific evidence revolves when Amy quotes her mother saying ‘’not waste money that way’’.

11. Write 1-2 sentences that explain how this piece of evidence supports your claim

This evidence supports the claim since her mother is a perfect example when she utters these words which are seemingly ungrammatically correct. (Kirkpatrick and David D,2015).

I agree with the author key point and evidence. The author met her goal because the evidence used above was enough to show the third key point. There is enough evidence been present and additional information is not needed.

12. In conclusion, rephrase your claim as stated in Question 2.

Amy Tan resolves to discuss the issue of Asian American's not venturing into the field of writing or literature related courses simply because they are made to believe that they are unable to express themselves in fields of writing. (Kirkpatrick and David D,2015).

13. Write 3-4 sentences that summarize your reaction to the author's key point.

The main idea of how language is being treated will affect the performance. Subsequent practices will enable one to be fluent. The attitude should not be a factor in learning of the language.

14. Explain at least two insights* about your claim established through your analysis.

The first insight is that language can be learned by any person regardless of the race or the nation that one comes from. Secondly, language performs several more functions apart from communication alone as viewed by a lot of people. (Kirkpatrick and David D,2015).
