The Death of Major Peirson
This piece of art was done by John Singleton.
The painting depicts the death of Major Francis Peirson at the Battle of Jersey on 6 January 1781.
This battle was the last of the French attempt to take over the island of Jersey.
The battle also depicts one of the last times that a foreign nation invaded the islands of British.
The attack was planned only by Baron Philippe de Rullecourt however according to reliable sources it was funded by the Government of France.

John Singleton Copley he was born in the year 1738 – September 9, and died in the year 1815).
He was was an Anglo-American painter, active in both colonial America and England.
His portraits were termed as innovative as they had an effect of revealing artifacts relate to these individuals' lives.
