RP02: Technology Transition Plan
Dr. Patrick Offor ITMGMT-575 1
Students will complete a plan to transition a technology implementation to steady
state operations.
The plan will be based on a transition case provided by the instructor or using a
transition case known to the student with permission of the instructor. This exercise can
be done individually, or in pairs, at the discretion of the instructor.
Based on their analysis of the case, students will determine what actions are needed to
convert from an implementation to steady state operations. The plan will also provide
communications section which will detail how the transition will be communicated to the
affected stakeholders.
The instructor may provide additional guidance on the format of the deliverables.
By submitting this paper, you agree: (1) that you are submitting your paper to be used
and stored as part of the SafeAssign™ services in accordance with the Blackboard
Privacy Policy; (2) that your institution may use your paper in accordance with your
institution's policies; and (3) that your use of SafeAssign will be without recourse against
Blackboard Inc. and its affiliates.
Specific Guideline
The main goal of this assignment is for students to write on technology implementation
they are very familiar with in order to provide substantive reflective insight and value to
the exercise. However, I am also aware that some of the students may not have been
involved in a system implementation. Therefore, students are free to use the technology
implementation and transition plan (knowledge transfer) they were involved in or write
about any of the following recent technologies’ transition to a steady state or
sustainment below:
• Transition of the Global Combat Support System-Army sustainment from
Northrop Grumman Inc. to the Army Shared Services
• Transition plan for any of these technologies at Boeingi:
▪ Sharing digital information between air traffic control, the flight deck and an
airline's operations center to optimize routing efficiency and safety.
▪ An electronic flight bag application that uses next-generation communications
to automatically provide rerouting information to pilots when weather
conditions warrant.
▪ Connected cabin technologies that make galleys and lavatories smart and
monitor cabin conditions such as temperature and humidity to facilitate
automatic adjustments.
▪ Cameras to provide more passengers with a view outside the airplane.
• Amazon Rekognition
• Google Vision

Outline
Whether you choose from the list above, or use a familiar technology implementation in
your organization or use a change implementation you are aware of, the goal of the
paper is for you to discuss the implementation plan in relation to the followingii:
• The teams/organizations doing and receiving the knowledge transfer
• The tools that were used for transition
• The techniques they used
• The methodologies
• The contingency plan
• The risk mitigation plan
The discussion should include the following:
• Transition plan
• The steps used in the transition
• The checklist
• The Application Management Tool for the transition
• Governance
• Others
