Task 1: Investigate Options. (L.O.1) Investigate legislative issues relating to acquisition and maintaining of a hospitality business.
Write an assignment regarding your establishment. You must include all of the following:
a. Investigate and analyse three funding options for the purchase of your new business.
Include any legal requirements that will apply to some of your options. The range can
include but is not limited to: loans, investors and partnerships, (however be specific about
which type of loan or investors etc as there are many different types). Choose the best
option/s you prefer for your hospitality establishment, giving at least three detailed reasons to
justify your choice.
b. Investigate and analyse any Legal requirements for purchasing/acquiring a business in New
Zealand (minimum of 10 points), if necessary, include any local authority regulations (Some
points may be highly recommended but not yet legal, however they could lead to legal
problems).
c. Investigate and analyse any legal responsibilities of maintaining the ongoing business
(minimum of 10 different points)
Task 2: Management strategies. (L.O.2) Evaluate property management strategies for a range of
hospitality property types.
a. Analyse five different business/property management strategies for the management and
ownership of a hospitality operation.
b. Choose the one you prefer for your hospitality establishment, giving at least three detailed
reasons to justify your choice.
Consider strategies such as owner-operator, a management company, franchising or
timeshare style of ownership and management.
