Portfolio letter to the reader

Fall 2017 Dear LLD 100A portfolio reader, After I finished a semester long writing class, I found out my English writing skills have been improved remarkably and beside the skills I learned, I have more interests on writing now. I hate writing so much in my freshmen year, because I don’t know how to organize my language into my essay. However, writing Rhetorical Analysis paper helps me to learn how to write a well-organize and understandable essay, which I choose as my best paper. Moreover, Discipline Investigation paper teaches me several important practical writing skills which I choose as the second-best paper. I choose RA paper as my best paper is because it teaches me how to analyze an article efficiently and use strategies and appeals in my own article, and I contributed most of my time on revising it again and again. Before I wrote this paper, I did not realize the importance of analyzing an article, which I just scanned the article all the time in the past. What I learned from RA paper was the skill of analyzing, like understand what are 3 appeals and strategies that help me to judge if an article is valid. Moreover, it helps me to find the important point of the article quickly and help me increase the reading efficiency. By the time I learned how to analyze, I also learned how to apply them in my essay too. For example, I used logo strategy in my RA paper even I was also analyzing the article. I wrote down a lot of specific examples in my article which I can provide sufficient evidence to support why I think the author of the article use the certain strategy or appeal. I am proud of what I actually learned from writing, and also my grammar using has been improved day by day. Because when I spend amount of the time to fix the essay, I also study from it. Last but not least, I think this essay can be the best the essay is because the time that I spend on it. I started to go to writing center when I drafted it, and I went there at least 5 times for this paper. I do not feel tired about, and honestly, I feel sense of achievement every time when the tutor said, “it is much better than last time”. I gained somehow happiness from it, and I am proud of my insistent on revising this essay again and again. I know there are still a lot of writing knowledge I need to be learned and improved, and I started to pay attention to the importance of well-organize writing. But as I started to reap some happiness from learning writing, I know I will keep my enthusiastic of seeking the knowledge of writing and be a good writer. Sincerely Xinxin Jin ...
