I’m working on a Business Law exercise and need support.
Use the Internet or the Strayer Library to research articles on the characteristics (e.g. intellectual, psychological, and physical) of a criminal investigator. Be prepared to discuss.
* From the e-Activity, determine the fundamental positive and negative characteristics of a criminal investigator. Include at least two (2) examples from real life or stories from television and newspaper to support your response. Note: Some popular television shows to consider include CSI (Crime Scene Investigation) and CSI: Miami or CSI: New York.
Many criminal investigation articles suggest that there are positive and negative benefits to having police investigators specialize in certain fields of expertise (e.g. homicide, robbery). Place yourself in the role of the Chief of Police in an agency with one hundred (100) police officers, five (5) of which are general detectives who investigate every type of crime. Imagine your community is suffering from a rash of homicides. Determine the main pros and cons of training two (2) of the five (5) investigators specifically in homicide investigation in your agency. Provide a rationale to support your response.
Respond to following statement:
Take the TV show Blue Blood as example, one of the characters by the name of (Danny) took a case to personal. He used to be Marine and a fellow Marine was killed in this episode but he took more personal because of that factor. In another episode of Blue Bloods there was a possible terrorist attack. In the investigative officer Danny was targeting the Muslim men and instead of profiling everyone he was being bias in the situation. Going with the most likely in his opinion and not off the facts of the situation.
There are many pros and cons to having only two homicide detective in the community. Seeing as the community is already suffering from rash homicides and the Chief of police is only convert two detectives to solve the problem. Well the pros could be they already have the critical thinking skills and crime solving abilities down. There would be no need to learn on the job or change their way of thinking. But the cons would be work overload being the only two homicide detectives in the community and starting during a peak in homicide active, it would be difficult to solve them all. Not to mention work exhaustion because of the work overload, your work and the cases would suffer. Mistakes could be made that could put an innocent person in jail or let a murder go free.
