Practicing for the Final Project
This week’s discussion showcases your considerations of challenges or barriers that affect interventions, along with monitoring and sustaining learner success. Effective interventions involve ongoing planning based on learner data as well as consideration of potential challenges and ways to mitigate them.
Prepare
To bring your learning full circle, it is important to revisit the Week Six Final Project requirements once more. Re-read the following sections from textbook pp.60-64 (ebook version search term Collaboration), pp.125-126 (ebook version search term Interventions in the Classroom), pp.132-133 (ebook version search term Mentoring), and pp.136-140 (ebook version search term What’s the Alternative)
Reflect
Now that you have practiced devising an intervention plan focused around a hypothetical learner (i.e., Kevin or Jane), you are ready to commit to a new and original learner or population of learners you intend to design your Student-Centered Intervention Plan around. By planning your Final Project here and sharing it with others, the opportunity to engage in reciprocal feedback with your classmates and instructor will help you make thoughtful decisions about your Final Project.
Write (Post an initial response by Day 3)
For the purpose of this discussion, you will not address all components of the plan, only the primary identifying factors and those pertaining to our learning outcomes this week.
Briefly describe the following components of the plan in your initial response, making it easily viewable and readable for others.
- Learner Description: State the level of the learner by either grade level if PreK-12, post-secondary, or adult learner.
- Problem Description: Describe in one to two sentences why the existing issue requires intervention.
- Intended Intervention: Describe the tech or non-tech intervention selected and its intended outcome for improving learning.
- Differentiation: Explain how this approach supports differentiated learning.
- Mitigating Challenges: List any potential issues that may impede the successful implementation or outcomes of the intervention and how you might mitigate such challenges.
- Progress Monitoring: List tools and/or strategies you will implement to monitor the effectiveness of your intervention. List the additional data you will collect.
- Sustaining Success: Describe intentional efforts to sustain intervention and learner success over time.
