Hudson Henderson is the project manager for the Health4U Mobile App Project. Team members include you, a programmer/analyst and aspiring project manager; Patrick, a network specialist; Nancy, a business analyst; and Bonnie, another programmer/analyst. Other people are supporting the project from other departments, including Yusaff from Human Resources and Cassandra from Finance. Assume that these are the only people who can be assigned and charged to work on project activities. Recall that as the leader of development of health information resources and systems, you have a schedule and cost goals which are to complete the project in six months for under $350,000.

Tasks

1. Using the provided WBS given create a Gantt chart, estimate the task durations and enter dependencies as appropriate. Remember that your schedule goal for the project is six months. The Gantt chart can be created in MS Excel or created in a project management software. Submit the file in either PDF format or as an MS Excel file.

1. Write a short paper summarizing how you would assign the team members to each activity from Tasks 1 and 2. Include a table or matrix listing how many hours each person would work on each task. These resource assignments should make sense given the duration estimates made in Task 2 above. Remember that duration estimates are not the same as effort estimates because they include elapsed time. Submit your paper in either MS Word or PDF formats.

Background info

 Health4U Mobile App. Provide an application to help employees improve their health. A recent study found that H4UI, Inc. pays 20 percent more than the industry average for employee healthcare premiums, primarily due to the poor health of its employees. You believe that this application will help improve employee health within one year of its rollout so that you can negotiate lower health insurance premiums, providing net savings of at least $30/employee/year for full-time employees over the next four years. The budget for the project is $350,000, and H4UI management would like to see a finished application available in six months. This application would include the following capabilities:

• A fitness tracker that allows H4UI customers to record and track their blood pressure readings, cholesterol levels, exercise regimen, calorie intake, and other related information.


• A medication tracker in which customers can enter their medications and schedules for taking those meds. This “electronic pillbox” will contain a calendar that displays the customer’s medication schedule and an alarm that sounds whenever it’s time to take one of the medications.


• A physicians list that is essentially an electronic address book for the customer’s health-care company, doctors, nurses, and physician’s assistants. The list will include controls that allow customers to quickly incorporate existing entries from other contact lists in their phones.


• An emergencies list for storing vital phone numbers and addresses. This list will provide quick access to local in-network hospitals, urgent care clinics, and children or friends who can be relied upon to provide transportation in an emergency. As soon as the customer enters and saves an address, an interactive GPS map becomes available in a new window, with voice and text directions.


• An emergency information list in which customers store important information about themselves, such as medical conditions (e.g., the customer is diabetic), allergies, adverse reactions to drugs, and other personal information that a physician, nurse, or other concerned party might find useful in an emergency.


• A resources feature that lists links to other popular online health sites, such as WebMD. The customer will have the option to add links to the list.


• A payment feature that tracks the customer’s medical expenses and allows customers to make medical payments through their phones.
