Alphanumeric Outlines

Thisis the most common type of outline and usually instantly recognizableto most people. The formatting follows these characters, in this order:

· Roman Numerals

· Capitalized Letters

· Arabic Numerals

· Lowercase Letters

Ifthe outline needs to subdivide beyond these divisions, use Arabicnumerals inside parentheses and then lowercase letters insideparentheses. Select the "Sample Outlines" PDF in the Media Box above todownload the sample of this outline,"

Youroutline should have a section for Introduction, Body and Conclusion.Your introduction should clearly state the thesis of your paper. Eachsection should use a different Roman numeral (see below)--FOR EXAMPLE,INTRO SHOULD BE II, BODY SHOULD BE II, CONCLUSION SHOULD BE III.Subdivide your supporting information with the letter and numberheadings below, just indent them.
