I have conducted an experiment on growing radish seeds. I used 3 petri dishes and added a paper towel lining on the inner bottom of each. I have added acetic acid in one, water in the other and bicarbonate in the other. I placed them in my window sill and tested the pH balance each day. Attached is the chart. It has not been the best weather here with limited sun and we are averaging in the low 50's Fahrenheit everyday. My seeds have not grown or cracked in 7 days. Can you finish of my worksheet given the data presented? I have kept them moist everyday adding 2ml of the appropriate solutions.Your Full Name: Andrew Etan UMUC Biology 102/103 Lab 7: Ecological Interactions INSTRUCTIONS: • • • • On your own and without assistance, complete this Lab 7 Answer Sheet electronically and submit it via the Assignments Folder by the date listed in the Course Schedule (under Syllabus). Would you expect endangered species to be more frequently generalists or specialists? Explain your answer. Endangered Species would not fit into the group of being a specialist. Generalists are more adaptable to weather and climate changes, whereas specialists can only tolerate small changes to their environment to survive. Therefore, a more specialized animal would more like to be endangered than a generalist. 2. How does temperature affect water availability in an ecosystem? The higher the temperature of the weather the more water that is evaporated into the air. This creates the ground to dry up as in the desert. This makes water very hard to find. On the other hand, if the water is too cold it freezes which also makes it hard to heat up to consume or use for other purposes. 3. Choose a species and describe some adaptations that species developed that allow them to survive in their native habitat. Polar Bear- As we know it the polar bear is on the decline due to global warming. Here are some adaptions that they have implemented to help their survivability. When food is caught they only eat what they need and bury the rest in the snow which helps preserve the food to last longer. The normal meal for a polar bear would be to eat seals but on occasions scientist have found them eating dolphins which is very unusual.
