PROJECT DESCRIPTION
Eric, an advocate for protecting the environment, has asked you for help. He will be speaking to an audience to encourage them to save energy while driving their cars. Eric has created a PowerPoint presentation to deliver his message, but he needs your help organizing the content and creating a professional look.
To clarify the information in the presentation, you will rearrange the order of the slides, add a new slide, and add new text to some of the slides. To make the presentation more appealing, you will change slide layouts and apply formatting to emphasize words. To enhance the effectiveness of the slide content, you will add clip art and add a slide transition.
GETTING STARTED
· Download the following file from the SAM website:
· SC_PPT2013_C1_P1a_FirstLastName_1.pptx
· Open the file you just downloaded and save it with the name:
· SC_PPT2013_C1_P1a_FirstLastName_2.pptx
· Hint: If you do not see the .pptx file extension in the Save file dialog box, do not type it. PowerPoint will add the file extension for you automatically.
· With the file SC_PPT2013_C1_P1a_FirstLastName_2.pptx still open, ensure that your first and last name is displayed in the presenter notes on Slide 1. If the presenter notes do not display your name, delete the file and download a new copy from the SAM website.
PROJECT STEPS
1. On Slide 1 (“Driving Green!”), change the subtitle font color to Dark Green, Accent 2, Darker 50% (6th column, 6th row in the Theme Colors palette) and font size to 60 pt.
2. On Slide 2 (“What does Driving Green mean?”), create a bulleted list with the following text in the left content placeholder:
Reduce fuel consumption
Reduce air pollution
3. With Slide 2 still displaying, use the Bing Image Search to insert an online picture of your choosing in the right content placeholder.
4. On Slide 3 (“What is the objective?”), resize the image to 4.5” tall. If necessary, move the image so that it fills most of the white space on lower-right side of the slide.
5. With Slide 3 still displaying, insert a new slide using the Section Header layout. Enter Eco-Driving Tips in the title placeholder and For Driving Smart! in the text placeholder.
6. On Slide 5 (“Maintain a Smooth and Steady Speed”), apply the italic font style to the words “when possible” in the second bulleted item.
7. On Slide 6 (“Pay Attention to Traffic Flows”), create a multi-level bulleted list with the following text in the content placeholder:
Avoid quick starts and stops
Ease into accelerations
Brake gradually
Maintain a safe distance between cars
8. Move Slide 9 (“Plan Ahead”) so that it becomes the new Slide 7, and then change the slide layout to Title and Content.
9. On the new Slide 9 (“Maintain the Car Properly”), create a bulleted list with the following text in the content placeholder:
Follow the owner’s manual guidelines
Get regular tune-ups
Use the correct oil grade
Keep recommended air pressure in tires
10. With Slide 9 still displaying, move the clip art to the blank area to the right of the bulleted list.
11. On Slide 10 (“When you drive smarter, it is…”), apply the bold font style to the word “AND” between the two bulleted items.
12. On Slide 11 (a blank slide), use the Bing Image Search to insert an online picture of a wallet, or any suitable image of your choosing.
13. Apply the Rotate transition to all of the slides in the presentation.
14. Update the document properties by entering the keywords Green Driving in the Tags box.
15. Check the Spelling in the presentation to identify and correct any spelling errors. (Hint: You should find and correct at least 1 spelling error.)
In Slide Sorter view, your presentation should look like the Final Figure below (your images on Slides 2 and 11 may differ). Save your changes, close the presentation, and exit PowerPoint. Follow the directions on the SAM website to submit your completed project.
