For Assignment 1, students are required to write a brief case study (approximately 1000 words) demonstrating how a company uses data analytics in its decision-making process.
Step 1: Choose a company you would like to research.
You can potentially choose any company except the following companies (that is, you CANNOT choose the following companies for this assignment). Choosing any of these companies may make your assignment not acceptable for grading purpose.

Step 2: Conduct research based on your selected company.
For your case study, you will need to conduct in-depth research by checking the company’s official website, reading reliable online news, and preferably searching academic databases, using Library Search or Google Scholar, to gather information from academic journal articles, books, and other sources.
The brief case study is expected to reach satisfactory academic standards in terms of writing style and quality. It should also convey your research ability and use of reliable sources to support your claims.
Step 3: Planning
Be sure to take sufficient time to plan your case study after conducting relevant research. A professional and clear structure is essential to walk readers through your research. Please consider the following questions as a starting point as you structure your case study:
Why are business analytics important for your chosen company?
What methods does the company use for data collection?
What tools does the company employ for data analysis?
What decisions are made by the company based on the data analysis?
Step 4: Structure your case study in the following sections.
Introduction – one paragraph
Background to the company
Introduce topic
Brief outline of what the case study will discuss
Body- several paragraphs
How and why does the company use business analytics?
What methods does the company use for data collection?
What tools does the company use for data analysis?
How business analytics impacts the overall business performance of the company?
Conclusion – one paragraph
Write down the main conclusions and provide an overall evaluation of the case
Step 5: Write up your brief case study.
Writing style – Use formal business English and make sure there is cohesion and coherence in your writing. The appropriate vocabulary should be used with the correct grammar, spelling, and punctuation. The submission must be in word document format (.doc or .docx).
Formatting - Word-processed Times New Roman 12 point, 1.5 spacing with appropriate headings and subheadings.
In-text + end-text references – APA 7th edition Referencing.
