In the power point, you will want to make sure you include the theoretical perspectives, and both the classic and contemporary sociological theorists. You should include research methods in your presentation as well. You will want to trace the early history of sociology up to at least the latter half of the twentieth century, although you can go all the way up to current sociology in the early twenty-first century. All sources should be listed on the final slide(s) in the power point, formatted for a bibliography. SOCI 111-Introduction to Sociology Annotated Bibliography Adams, B. N., & Sydie, R. A. (2002). Classical sociological theory. Thousand Oaks, Calif: Pine Forge Press. This book creates a concise yet comprehensive explanation and illustration of the classical sociological theory with a focus towards positivism and enlightenment, industrial revolution or what is commonly referred to as the Darwin theory, and concludes by explaining a number of theorists and their input to the topic. In this case, the author insists on science as the driving factor towards the drastic changes that occurred both in the past as well as in our day to day lives. Like many other sociological books, this book does not rely on additional studies; rather, it is just an expounding of the findings and illustrations of the original classical sociological theory. This book gives fascinating relationships between the various application areas of classical sociological theory with a clear explanation. It will be utilized in understanding the classical sociological theory and the input of pivotal theories as well as its application. These pivotal theories include the classical sub-theories such as positivism that shape the understanding of the general classical social theory. Brinkerhoff, D. B., Weitz, R., & Ortega, S. T. (2014). Essentials of sociology. Belmont, CA: Wadsworth/Cengage Learning This book begins by giving various definitions and illustrations into the field of sociology that helps in acquainting the reader with its relationship to the society. However, the book goes ahead to relate the individual, family, communal, and societal virtues to various sociological terms and an inference of these to an individual. Unlike Giddens, Duneier, Appelbaum & Carr (2016) and Farley & Flota (2006), the authors in this book take a simplified approach for every stage of sociology that makes it easy to understand before the stages are combined to give various principles and real life explanations. They insist that racial, sexual, gender, health and healthcare, culture, socialization, deviance, and social structures all begin at individual levels before they can be extended to family structures and beyond to the society. This book is of great significance in understanding the basic terms in the topic and understanding the role of an individual within the society from a sociological point of view. This understanding of these fundamental terms will necessitate the creation of a good foundation for advanced sections in the field of sociology. Cox, R. (January 01, 2014). Critical Theory. International Organization and Global Governance, 157-168. In this article, Cox explores the historical, social, as well as ideological forces that are responsible for creating and constraining the culture of a particular group or society.
