In this simulation you will collect look at the energy transfer that happens when a known mass of hot metal is introduced into a calorimeter containing a known mass of water. By measuring the initial temperature of the water and metal, and measuring the final temperature of the water and metal after they reach thermal equilibrium, you will be able to use q = m.c.LaTeX: \DeltaΔT and the concept of heat transfer in an isolated system, qwater + qmetal = 0, to calculate the specific heat capacity of the metal (cmetal) and compare it to the accepted value for the metal examined.
