The purpose of this assignment is to create a sponsorship sales deck for pitching a marketing opportunity to potential sponsors.
Sponsors are critical to the success of most sports events, as they are one of the major means of generating revenue, both monetary and through "in kind" donations. Obtaining sponsors is a critical facet of sports marketing, and the ability to effectively pitch your team, organization, or event to potential sponsors will help to ensure your success in the sports business industry.
For this assignment, select a team of your choice and create a sponsorship sales deck that you can use to pitch your team to potential sponsors. The presentation should be completed as a PowerPoint presentation of 7-8 slides so that it can be easily shared with potential sponsors. The presentation should conform to the slide outline definitions provided below. Be sure to include your relevant talking points in the speaker notes section of each slide.
Slide 1: Introduction: Team name, logo, venue, and related graphics.
Slide 2: Team Overview: Provide specific team information, including number of events per year, average attendance, approximate annual tickets sales, and fan demographics.
Slide 3: Differentiation Factor: Explain what makes your team a unique sponsorship opportunity for the potential sponsor, and how this partnership will allow the potential sponsor to engage with fans and the local community. Include information about how this sponsorship can connect the company to potential customers within the team's target audience.
Slides 4 and 5: Sponsorship Opportunities: Describe the benefits that the team can provide to the sponsor in addition to what you are seeking from the sponsor as part of the partnership. Include one or two slides related to the following, as applicable: on-site sales opportunities; product exclusivity; sponsor benefits, including television, radio, and newspaper exposure, website visits, complimentary tickets, hospitality, and access to special events; marketing opportunities both on and off site; cosponsor promotional activities; consumer and trade promotions; list of other sponsors; and sponsorship term (annual, 2-year, 3-year, etc.).
