Executive Summary
Apple is an American company functioning at a multinational level that develops, designs, and sells consumer electronics, computer software, smartphone software, online services, personal computers, smartphones and tablets. It is headquartered in the city of Cupertino in California and it is one of the Big Five technology companies. Apple was founded in 1976 by Steve Jobs, Ronald Wayne, and Steve Wozniak. Some of Apple's most known hardware products are iPhone, iPad, iPod, Mac, Apple Watch, Apple TV, AirPods, and HomePod. Some of Apple’s most known software products are macOS, iOS, iPadOS, watchOS, and tvOS.
In this individual case on Apple inc. I will give a thorough analysis of Apple’s resources and capabilities, focusing on their tangible and intangible organizational capabilities. I will give a general description of the industry using PESTLE analysis focusing on political, economic, social, technological, legal, and environmental elements that Apple has to offer. I will use Porter's Five Forces to further explain Apple’s competitive rivalry, supplier power, buyer power, threat of substitution, and threat of new entry. I will use SWOT analysis to indicate the strengths, weaknesses, opportunities, and threats that exist in Apple’s environment. Finally, I will give current and recommended strategies that the company should implement for future competitive advantage.
