Question Description
Write a critical evaluation essay on the Gettysburg Address
Decide how the the speaker used logos, pathos, and ethos effectively to create a compelling argument. If there are weaknesses in one of these areas, be sure to note that, too. Make sure that your thesis has an introduction that contains a hook and a thesis, body paragraphs that discuss one proof at a time (one paragraph per example), and a conclusion.
you will have three body paragraphs, one each evaluating how well the author used ethos (credibility), pathos, and logos to support the central message. We are trying to evaluate what good speakers do well to sell us on their message.
This paper should be at least 700 words, but no more than 850. The paper should be formatted correctly MLA style and written in third person (do not use the words I, me, us, we, or you). The essay should also contain citations and a works cited list based on your selected essay in the assigned readings.
Here is the working thesis to build off of:
Abraham Lincoln’s Gettysburg Address stands through history as one of the greatest speeches ever given. Lincoln was able to successfully convey his ethos, pathos, and logos throughout this speech. He simultaneously built his credibility, appealed to the audiences emotion and conveyed logic from start to finish.
