Course Description


This is a fundamental course in the application of statistics. In this course, students will learn to apply statistical


techniques to a variety of applications in business and the social sciences. Students will learn how to solve


statistical problems by hand and through the use of computer software. Topics include probability distribution


functions, sampling distributions, estimation, hypothesis testing, and linear regression.


Course Outcomes


 Recognize and solve problems involving discrete and continuous probability distributions


 Apply the central limit theorem and recognize its importance in sampling


 Calculate and interpret confidence intervals


 Construct and interpret a variety of hypothesis tests


 Calculate and interpret a simple linear regression equation and the associated correlation coefficient


 Interpret a multiple linear regression equation and the associate correlation coefficient


 Solve statistical problems using statistical software
